Milford Ruminator urges civility and water rules debate

Milford readers are invited to express opinions as watering hours go into effect May 1 from 7 to 9 p m and 6 to 8 p m with a legal ban on watering outside these times a fire siren prompts turning off taps. Legion Kangaroo Court Collects $26

The Milford Legionnaires held their second 4% Kangaroo Court last Saturday with Judge Gillam issuing fines to violators of the whisker shaving regulations. A dozen Legionnaires arrested males lacking facial hair to prove compliance while Teddy Kronholm, as defense attorney, failed to win any cases. Minimum fines were $1 and all proceeds go to the Legion Building Fund for a new hall scheduled to begin May 25 following the 1949 celebration.

Donna Denny Leads In 49er Queen Contest

Donna Denny remains lead in the American Legion Forty-Niner Queen contest with 2972 votes after a strong start and over a thousand new votes since last week. Anna Mae Hickman, wife of Hubert Hickman, holds second with 1031 votes, followed by Jean Hickman at 625 and Jeannette Colborn at 481. Bonnie Vernon, Ella Jean Parkinson, and Helen Marshall trail, with voting sites listed at local shops to cast ballots for each contestant.

A group of South Milford girls at Mrs. Joan McKnight's home formed a 4-H club and elected officers Donna Hansen president Dean Looft house vice president Barbara Walker secretary treasurer Marjorie Walker song and cheer leader Yvonne Stott reporter. Seventeen members joined. Next meeting set for Betty Stewart's Saturday evening.

Junior Girls Festival Honors Members At Aura Event

Milford Fire, Dr Fels Aid After Plane Call for Crash Landing

A Grand Junction radio dispatch warned Milford of a plane with engine trouble on takeoff. Milford Volunteer Fire Department and local residents rushed to the airport to assist, but the aircraft landed normally and Mel Hart of Los Angeles later thanked Milford for its speedy response and promised to return with colleagues.
