Milford traffic code Section 98 1 prohibits registered owners or possessors from letting someone drive a vehicle without first obtaining the other person s name and address. This brief explains the rule and its enforcement in the Milford area.
Mischa Poznanski of the USAC presents a lyceum on April 13 at Milford High allowing patrons to examine a priceless musical instrument. Future Homemakers of America initiate new members Thursday in Home Ec. The Speech Class presents a comedy Tell it to Tommy Friday at 2:45 PM with 10 cent admission benefiting Don Alger Injured Student fund. Public invited to attend.
The Junior class plans Monday decorating with many members contributing. Earth Merryweather honored at a surprise party. Hostess Sally Edwards served refreshments. Sophomore assembly and dance labeled the year’s best, centered on Nero of Rome with a planned program. Speech class to present a Friday assembly with a skit and songs. Lettermen Club jackets announced in red brown with a black M emblem.
The Wheeler Whirlers are set to perform for square, round and ballroom dancing in Baker on Friday April 1. Beaver County residents received an open invitation to attend. Hon. Mr. and Mrs. J B Colbourne of Cedar City were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jam BP Holm.
Milford Minersville and Beaver lay members and teachers form a county group to prepare a report on the purposes and goals of Beaver County education. A nine person coordinating committee will consolidate final reports with a tentative April 15 deadline.
Milford Grade School schedules final parent teacher conferences for April 27 26 and 29 with strong expected turnout. Calendar includes April 4 Kindergarten Assembly April 12 Lyceum March April 18 Fourth Grade assembly and May Fifth Grade assembly. Know Your State month featured with Wonders of Utah and Dawn the Colorado. Shrewals released a special Know Your State issue.
Mr and Mrs George Ray of Whitney Nevada arrived Turn day and will spend a few days here attending to business and meeting old friends.
Friends and relatives of Mr and Mrs A F McCulley of Milford invite to an open house Sunday afternoon for their golden wedding anniversary. The couple have lived in Milford since 1904 and their ten children and multiple siblings are noted. Open House at the McCulley residence will run from 3 to 6 PM.
Sheldon Seltzer pastor Milford Seventhday Adventist Church will conduct the evening services at the Methodist Church on Palm Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Dr and Mrs Lloyd Kohler will leave this weekend to attend the LDS conference in Salt Lake City and return to Milford on Monday.
The American Legion Auxiliary holds a special meeting in St Bridget's hall with Milford Unit 16 and Minersville Unit 1. Department President Mrs. P. K. Hayes of Richmond and District President Mrs. Marie W. Orton of Parowan attend along with Mrs. Thelma Eskelson of Ogden. Naomi Hughes leads the program as Mrs. Hayes highlights civil defense child welfare veterans rehab and example unit programs.
Fallout reports in the Minersville area after the Tuesday detonation were investigated by Dr Eugene Davie Beaver County civil defense director using a scintillator. AEC representatives checked the area and found no evidence of excessive radioactive fallout or danger to residents or livestock. monitoring will continue at regular intervals.
After four years aboard the USS TH25 DeLane Johnson, son of Mr and Mrs Nils M Johnson, was discharged March 2 and reached home March 24. He now seeks employment in Salt Lake City while relatives in Utah and Nevada host dinner guests Saturday at the Banke residence.
Milford High School Class of 1955 presented a $100 check to the library board to aid in purchasing reference books and other materials. The drive supports a goal of 750 new books as the school strengthens accreditation with a librarian and a library association.
The third in a series of Garden Club meetings will be held in Beaver and Milford on Monday, April 4. Dr. George F. Knowlton from the USAC will discuss garden insect pests affecting trees shrubs lawns and other home pests. Milford meets at the LDS Church at 145 p.m. Beaver session at the Court House at 8 p.m. All interested persons invited.
JD Nielson of New Harmony visited with his brother in law and sister Mrs and Mrs Max Mecham. Nielson was discharged from the army about a week ago. Dr J E Simons former Milford physician who left here to practice in Monticello will enroll at the University of Utah Medical School June 1 for additional study. Mr and Mrs Frank Grimes purchased the Elwood and Allene Jefferson home and the Jeffersons have purchased the Grimes home.
Secretary Benson lauds youth for progress in conservation efforts. Article notes conservation seeds in classrooms churches and camps and praises education fields and youth groups as key to future resource stewardship. Continued on page two.
Utah Fish and Game says licenses for 1955 will be available through all sales agencies by April 1 with a new watermarked face. Beginning April 16 the license year starts and must be displayed on outer clothing while fishing hunting or trapping. New trespass disclaimer appears on the license and fees stay the same for residents and seniors.
The Little Giants of Harvey's class defeated the Roadrunners of My Oldroyd's and Miss Taylor's class 24 to 15 to claim the Milford Elementary School basketball championship. Dennis Simpkins and Sherman Myers led scoring. Rodney Ogden shut down the opponent's standout. Coach Pettey of the high school refereed.
W Cleon Skouzen a BYU public services director and former FBI assistant director will deliver the baccalaureate address for Milford High School's graduating class on Sunday May 15 at 7 am in the high school auditorium. Skouzen a Canadian born lawyer author and lecturer has lived in several countries and now resides in Provo with his wife and seven children.
A 4H Tractor Maintenance Club will be organized in South Milford with Bill Griffiths as leader. He trained at a state leadership school in Salt Lake City funded by the Utah Of Company and Extension Service, with farm machinery firms assisting. Boys old enough to operate tractors may enroll by contacting Griffiths or County Agent Grant Esplin.
Mrs Julia Wither spent two weeks in Salt Lake City where she underwent an operation on her car. She returned home Friday feeling much better.
