Beav er County groups signup for a rainmaking demonstration using silver iodide crystals to enhance be low- level rainfall across the southern region. Milford approves bonds for pool and water system

Milford voters approve a 194 to 33 margin for a 15000 swimming pool bond and 197 to 23 for a 5000 water system improvement bond. City officials pledge timely completion for the 1951 summer season and major upgrades to mains and water services.

Milford High students shine at region speech meet

Four Milford High School students competed in the region speech meet at St George with Anne McCulley earning a superior rating and advancing to the state meet in Provo on April 13 and 14. Larry Edwards received excellent for Why I Hite Communism and was invited to speak to the Milford Lions Club. Ravonne McKnight and Vanda O’Leary earned honorable mentions for dramatic and humorous readings.

Frank Crookston Dies in Salt Lake

Frank Crystal Crookston age 56 of Las Vegas Nevada died Tuesday at 5150 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of a heart ailment. Survived by widow Mary Schow Crookston of Las Vegas, two daughters Marilyn Crookston and Betty Carson of Las Vegas, two grandchildren, five brothers Byron George Jack Crookston of American Fork Thomas Crookston Renton Wash Andrew Crookston Sunnyside Wash, two sisters Mrs Pearl Jewel Sunnyside and Mrs Elizabeth Merrill Renton, brother in law to Mrs Metta Weston and Mrs Letha Smyth of Milford.

Lions Entertain District Officials In Milford Meeting

District Gov Milne of St George was guest speaker at a Milford Lions Club event in St Bridger's Recreation Hall. Father Value and Catholic Ladies served baked ham dinner. Attending were Ambrose Dalton and Neal Lundberg. Milne urged Lions to serve communities and combat communism. Perry Olsen received a lapel pin. Club may sponsor a dramatic road show by the University of Utah this fall.

Baptism Service Held at Milford Methodist Church on Easter

Eleven persons including two adults and four babies were baptized at Easter services at Milford Methodist Church. The youngest was Clarence Emery Stonehocker II, born Dec 30, with several others named among the baptized. Paddington connections and relatives attended, and church members welcomed new adherents as Rev C M Wilton led the ceremony.

Utah Supreme Court Denies Appeal in Manzione Killers

The Utah Supreme Court upheld first degree murder convictions of Verne Braasch and Melvin Sullivan for the Beaver County killing of Howard Manzione during a Parowan service station robbery on Oct. 22, 1949. The 5 to 0 decision, written by Justice Lester A. Wade with a concurrence by Justice J Allan Crockett, rejects claims of prejudicial error and improper verdict instructions. The defendants, on death row at Point of the Mountain, have 20 days to seek rehearing.

Gwen Miller of Beaver County wins the Carl Ro Gray Scholarship awarded by Union Pacific Railroad to a Beaver County 4-H Club member. She completed six years in 4-H and led clubs for two years, previously earning a trip to Chicago for National 4-H Congress and placing three years in the State Fair Style Dress Review.

Singing Mothers Present Easter Cantata Resurrection Morning

The Singing Mothers of the First and Second LDS Wards of Milford will perform their Easter Cantata Resurrection Morning at the LDS Church next Sunday April. State Conservation Week Observed In Utah Next Week

Governor Bracken Lee proclaims April 26 as Conservation Week in Utah. Utah Foresters of USAC sponsor activities with agencies and groups, including lectures, films, and talks for schools clubs and civic groups. The Beaver County 4 H Club Council met in Milford on a Saturday to plan the county 4 H Club Leadership School set for April 6 at Minersville. Twin sons born to Rob ert and Pat Turner Davis at 4 30 and 4 37 Wednesday morn ing. One 4 lb 3 oz and the other 4 lb 9 oz. An 8 lb 4 oz boy born to Mr and Mrs Gerald Schow at 4 am Thursday. Arthur Stewart, son of Mr and Mrs Max Stewart, treated at hospital. Mrs Essie Thompson and newborn in hospital for observation. Mrs Faye Fordham of Greenville in hospital one day. Richard Butler, son of Mr and Mrs Eldon Buller, had emergency operation on March 24. Mrs Glenn Rollins underwent major operation on March 25. Mr Clinton Myers admitted March 46 for medical treatment. A daughter born to Mr and Mrs Ray Kesler on March 26 named Rebecca Lynn. Second child for the Kaerlers. first was a boy. Mrs Jesse Long admitted March 26 for medical treatment.
