The Civic Clubs of Southern Utah met in Milford amid talks on roads livestock and game, state planning board work, tourism and an advertising push. A bid to endorse a road commissioner candidate was blocked, with a plea to appoint a southern Utah man instead. The group also favored a southern Utah nomination to the liquor control commission and sent a double recommendation to the governor without a specific endorsement. Meetings and a banquet followed, with leaders from Milford Lions Club hosting and vocal support from St George and Panguitch representatives.
D P Murray announces Union Pacific scholarships for 4 H clubs in Utah. Beaver county winner is J Ross Farrer with Milford's Miss Naomia Wither as alternate. Farrer's forestry work earns a $2100 scholarship and travel to Utah State Agricultural College in Logan.
L A Bert Wynaught of the Civic Clubs of Southern Utah is backed by Beaver Chamber for a new state road commission seat amid an extra fulltime member. J E Wilson of Beaver is also touted for the three member state liquor control commission. Milford could see appointments, though unlikely, amid broader regional political moves.
Union Pacific announces the Pacific Limited will launch April 1 from Los Angeles San Francisco and Portland to Chicago Denver and Kansas City. The air conditioned service uses two nights from Pacific terminals to eastern destinations with no extra fare.

Democratic women from five states gather in Salt Lake City on April 6 1986 for an Institute of Government under the Utah state council of Democratic women. The conference includes Arizona Idaho Nevada Wyoming and Utah with sessions led by regional director Mrs Burton W Musser and state chairwoman Mrs Frank W Penrose. More than 50 men left Desert Range CCC Camp on March 25 signaling the end of enrollment with a farewell program the night before. Captain Walker and Superintendent Oakden gave parting talks. a farewell dance followed at Arion hall. Hospital notes report Dean Stahell recovering from appendectomy and Basel Brimhall also hospitalized for the same ailment and now improving. An official outline shows CCC activity expanding with 14 new camps expected in the Fort Douglas district and large-scale camp infrastructure work completed.
Landscaping of the grounds and buildings at the Desert Range Experiment station draws attention. Grass is planted, trees transplanted, and a first class face lift is underway with plans for cement sidewalks and a cement tennis court.
Millard High School hosts a night of boxing and a wrestling match pitting Millard against Milford in five three round bouts. Scheduled are 129-pound Stanford Johnson vs Yarl Frazier, 188-pound Tom Paxton vs Boyd Watts, 145-pound Scott George vs Mont Griffiths, 140-pound M Hatton vs Ken Sherwood, and Vaon George vs Bull Nichols. Local matches include Earl Limb vs Willard Evans, Doug Kirk vs Robbie Nichols, Tom Mastros vs Hughes Williams, plus Winslow Banks vs Tom Limb in wrestling.
W. W. Pratt of Goleta California representing the San Diego Fruit and Produce company spent several days calling on friends before continuing his journey to Driggs Idaho.
