Gold Medal Tournament Tightens With Thursday Games

In the high school gym Thursday the Gold Medal brackets feature Mill's Stage Stoppers versus Minersville and the B and J Club against Atoco of Fillmore. Wednesday's results saw Minersville beat Milford Misfits by 14 as Wey slaved off a late push. Thursday schedule includes Beaver vs Cedar City Sixth Ward, Mill's Stage Stoppers vs Minersville, Fillmore vs B and J Club, and Delta vs Milford Misfits with finals Saturday at 7 pm and 50 cent admission.

Milford Dental Clinic Set for April Visit to Minersville

Pre school and kindergartners not previously examined will attend a dental clinic at the Milford LDS church on Friday April 6. The Minersville session is scheduled for Wednesday April 4 with county nurse Diane McCulley assisting Dr Lloyd Kohler.

Dance Classes Begin at LDS Church

Folk dancing and waltzes are taught at LDS First and Second Ward Mutual sessions on regular meeting nights. Instructors include Bill Kirk and Mrs Lauriel Banks for the First ward and Mr and Mrs Norman Lamb for the Second ward. All interested persons are welcome.

Beaver County Democrats Plan Campaign Meetings

Beaver County Democratic Central Committee officials met for a dinner in Minersville then a county-wide meeting. Milton Wellemann state Democratic chairman led remarks urging support for a strong governor candidate and party unity. Other speakers included Walter K. Granger, Jesse Tuttle, Marty Topham, Carlyle Granning, and Dr Eugene Davie.

Milford Teen Drivers to Take Road-e-0 Tests Friday

Milford teenagers will take written driving exams Friday at the police station basement library with Marshals Fotheringham and Gale supervising. They will also conduct practice and simulated contest drives at a ramp course near the air park before the actual contest in early April.

Frieda Wood of Minersville was elected Beaver County Republican chairman at the 1956 organizational meeting in the Beaver Court House Tuesday evening. Aird Merkley and George Murdock, both of Beaver, were nominees for the office. G W Carter of Minersville was named vice chairman and Sherman Carter of Beaver secretary treasurer.

Georgia Beth Smith Wins Summer Trip to United Nations Assembly

Georgia Beth Smith daughter of Mr and Mrs George E Smith of South Milford won first place in the Rebekah Odd Fellow contest earning a fully paid six day trip to the United Nations Assembly in New York in June The six finalists were chosen based on essays exams and community involvement with judging by Prof Richard M Rowley The Milford Rebekah Odd Fellow lodges sponsor the Utah delegate selections and two other Utah students will also attend the pilgrimage.

Adventists Open Mission Appeal With Seventy Volunteers

The Seventh day Adventist Church begins its annual Mission Appeal on Monday March 26. Mitford volunteers will visit homes inviting support for the church’s mission and welfare program spanning 183 of 205 countries. Pastor Sheldon Seltzer notes last year’s global church spending reached $60 million in medical, educational, mission and welfare efforts.
