Community newspaper asks for local reporters support

Minersville Fe Senior Scout M Men Basketball Teams

Minersville hosts a community celebration honoring the M-Men and Senior Scout basketball teams for district titles. The M-Men, led by Os Mye dad Jeff Marshall, won the district title at Cedar City defeating Cedar City Orderville and Enterprise. The Senior Scouts, guided by Garrold Eyre and Ross Marshall, claimed the tournament at St Georg defeating Kanab and St. G Be. The M-Men depart for Salt Lake City for the National M A tournament. Scouts enter Senior Scout tournament at Provo. Community singing, pep yells, dancing, cookies, and punch followed. Donations totaled 57.50 with 82.50 from townspeople and 25 from the town board to aid travel costs. Graveside funeral held Tuesday for infant Kenneth Vance Marshall born prematurely at Milford Hospital.

Singing Mothers to Present Easter Cantata Resurrection Morn

The Singing Mothers of the Tits and Second Words prepare an Easter Cantata Resurrection Morn to be staged Sunday April 1. Directed by Mrs Gwen Smith with Mrs Lillian Anderson and Mrs Clarence Tuttle as accompanists. Officers include Mrs Lola Cline president Mrs Mildred Coon vice president and Miss Lillian Anderson secretary treasurer.

Funeral services for Della May Ashworth Levi were held at Milford LDS Church directed by Karl Stott. Burial in Mountain View cemetery Beaver. Surviving: husband Karl Levi, three daughters, one sister, one brother, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, with Howard Stewart missing in action in Korea.

Services for Guy Hill Held Friday

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Milford LDS Church for Guy Hill 66 of Cedar City died Thursday morning in Milford Hospital. Born December 21 1884 in Topeka Kansas he was a son of Orrin and Cora Hill. He married Marie Rogers of Kamas and they made their home in Cedar City with interment in Caliente Nevada.

An assembly by Brigham Young University students offered varied music and a Wagner aria. Peace Crusade Sparks U S Warning From State Dept

The State Department warned veterans through the Veterans Administration about the American Peace Crusade a Communist backed group calling a peace pilgrimage to Washington. Agnes Barton Laid to Rest in Greenville

Funeral services were held in Greenville for Agnes Caroline Barton on Saturday, March 17. Born July 7, 1874, in Greenville, she served as former president of Beaver County and lived in Milford and Calente before Union Pacific work. Survived by family and friends, the service drew many relatives and residents from the area.

Milford votes on 15000 pool and 5000 water bond issue

Melvin Edwards Dies at 63 in Manderfield

Funeral services were held in Beaver for Melvin Edwards 63 who died at Milford Hospital from a ruptured blood vessel. He was born in Beaver on April 4 1887 and lived in Manderfield where he farmed. Surviving are his widow Flora Edwards daughter Alma Sly grandson Russell Sly two brothers and four sisters and a nephew.
