Fifty-Fifty Club Bridge Night At Fernley Home

The Fifty-Fifty club held a quiet bridge evening at the home of Mr and Mrs W Fernley on Thursday March 7. Visiting guests included Mr and Mrs W P Sterling of Salt Lake and Mr and Mrs J F Hainer of Ruth Nevada. Mrs Copeland won first prize for ladies while Mrs Hainer took the consolation. William the Conqueror Cochrane led for the gentlemen and Monty Copeland won a new garter prize. Mr Sterling won the guest prize and Mr Campbell gave the main address.

Auto accident disrupts Penney store window

A young mechanic, Tom Schow, started a car left in reverse on Main Street. The vehicle shot backward, smashed the Penney store window, damaging display lighting. A woman and child nearby escaped injury. the window has since been repaired.

H S Band Plays at P T A Meeting Milford High

At Milford High School auditorium the H S Band under Stanley Johnson performed in a March 18 P T A meeting. Selections included Forepaugh Overture and The Champion with the High Private March, plus cornet and clarinet pieces. Next meeting set for April 15.

Two Boys Beat Six Year Old in Delta Grew Woods Case

Gordon Savage the six year old son of Delta High School principal Willis Savage was lured by two older boys into greasewoods and beaten with a whip and stamped. He returned home hours late with nose bleeding and bruises while his attackers threatened him. The juvenile court opened an investigation Monday and adjourned to Wednesday.

Ryssman Buys 160 Acres of Cates Ostee Land

Bert Ryssmen completed a purchase of 160 acres from W. C. Cates in Milford valley farm land. Cates owned 240 acres of Tine Iard and will retain 80 acres for farming. Alfalfa use planned on the Oregon Hyssenan right. Purchase price not disclosed.

Fire Department to Get New Truck in Town Plan

Town board approved purchase of a water department truck and a fire department basis for a new truck. A Chevrolet will replace the unreliable old machine with a water tank for sprinkling streets. road and street improvements to be funded by town and private contributions. Moscow mine and Beaver Crown mining firms pledged at least 3200 each toward surfacing, with county possibly matching.

New Business in Williams Block Promises General Store

Rumors say one new tenant will open a general clothing and dry goods store in the Williams block with interior work underway this week. Reports also note a possible theatre plan by Clark Kesler costing about 25000 with talkie equipment, pending a court decision in April between Kesler and the Orpheum theater, and a pool hall relocation if Kesler proceeds.
