Has Place In Band Hill Kirk of Milford son of Mr and Mrs Al J Kirk, a 19 member band. Recently heard in Leadership Week broadcasts over a cabio network. A Milford High School graduate, Kirk is now a freshman studying masonry in muse and English at the university. He plays the clarinet in the Band. Professor Robert Sauer, band director, and other university music heads say the coming spring quarter will be unusually active in music.

The 4th registration day on April 27 targets men aged 45 to 11 for possible non combatant service under the selective service system with younger men to follow in May for 18 and 19 year olds. Plans include training younger men for combatant service at age 20. Beaver County Selective Service Board No 81 reclassified some in the first two registrations, including railroad workers granted six month deferments to September, prompting local criticism.
The Reverend Donald Blackstock, serving the Methodist church as a clergyman for two months, was joined this week by his wife Mrs Blackstock. She has worked as editor chemist for the Bureau of Miner Plant in Salt Lake City and could not accompany him until her position was filled. They have been married four years with prior service in the navy and coast guard.

Minersville gains wider notice as four local boys from a small town battle with MacArthur’s forces on the Philippines.
