Milford prepares to host the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah with banquet seating for 150 guests, two halls, and entertainment. Meetings open at 4 pm Saturday and 9 am Sunday with directors from fourteen counties. Visitors from Ely Caliente Hichfield St George Cedarr City Beaver and Salt Lake expected. Pump At Desert Range Project In Pine Valley
The Desert Range Experiment Station pump started Saturday at 10 30 in Pine Valley to supply culinary water from a deep water well drilled to 650 feet. A 40000 gallon concrete storage tank will back the system while eight to nine thousand posts remain to be hauled for cross fences.

Under a Roosevelt suspension order air mail flight was halted nationwide at the start of the week with the last local plane taking off at 4 a m Sunday. Army air corps and civilians keep busy servicing cargo ships as a March Field crew repairs a California national guard plane damaged last week with a new wing arriving by rail. Local guards and civilian workers aided the craft until repair crews arrived and the aircraft is moved near the tent houses in a growing air field complex.

Beaver County Forestry Planting Program Expands In Milford Area
Beaver County farmers have planted about 2700 small trees in 18 sites over four years for windbreaks and woodlots. W. H. Hendrickson of Milford leads as top planters with 450 trees. The Utah State College nursery supplies stock. species include Russian olive, Siberian elm, black locust and walnut with suggestions for Milford area soils. Cedar Extension ships ore to Murray smelters
The Cedar Extension mine shipped 47 sacks of high grade ore to Murray smelters last Tuesday. Ore from the property tests as high as 1700 ounces of silver and 60 to 80 percent lead, with development by ten men ongoing. Hal Andrews of Salt Lake capital in town early this week to arrange shipments, optimistic about the mine’s future.
