The regular meeting of Fasca torch fant Noy Vii Ladies Aaixe ary te Veterans of Pavelen Wars wie Wold Tuesday evening May 10. East a dinner and bonding exercise followed. New members initiated were Mrs Eth Smith Florence Barner Mar well Cannell and Virginia Uren. After the business a seeking was played with prizes won by Mrs Smith for points and Mrs Uren for honors. Twelve members attended with committee members Mrs White Mrs Ween and Mrs Betty Dawson. The next regular meeting will be April 14 at the home of Mrs Wannah Smith in AL with election of officers. All members expected to be present.
Mrs Gertrude Cook visited Milford over the weekend staying with Menehior and Mrs Roy Cottrell. The South Milford Community club met at Elmer’s home and elected Ivan McKnight president and Lila Weber secretary. The FLPLA district speech contest in Delta saw Gael Firmer represent Milford taking second among nine schools. Howard Cook and family visited O C Koeh. Frank White and son Boyd visited Mrs White’s sister in Sipaniah Park.
Beaver County Selective Service completed the third registration for men aged 20 to 44 on February 16. 245 cards received trial serial numbers. these do not affect induction chances, which depend on the upcoming selective service drawing next Tuesday. The list names 200 plus registrants from Beaver and surrounding towns with card numbers and homes, highlighting the county’s effort to track registrations and supply an ordered roster for future reference.
A jumbled OCR fragment lists numerous personal names and initials such as John Elmer Neely Milford Pete tag Pane Griffiths Jr. wife Dudley Yardley Kimmel Boox Coon Bennett Swindlehurst and others with scattered military or local references. The text trails with incomplete lines and notes “Continued on last page.”
W R Martin, a Beaver County automobile pioneer, is remembered as Milford’s service station founder. His widow Mrs. Martin runs the shop while Harry Martin Jr. handles mechanical work, keeping the garage thriving amid widespread station closures along major highways. Harry, famed in Southern Utah for his auto skills, feels the weight of carrying on his uncle’s legacy.
Milford students Miss Doris Hughes and Frank Parsons among 36 seniors admitted to Phi Kappa Phi, the college’s top honor for the upper ten percent. Hughes to graduate from home economics. Parsons from engineering industries and trades.
Delta crushed Milford 45 to 33 in a decisive Beaver Millard district final. Delta sprinted to an 18 to 4 first quarter lead, extended it to 26-12 by halftime and 39-21 after three quarters as Coach Floyd Kotter used reserves in the final stanza. Milford fans remain hopeful for next season despite the lopsided loss.
Lieutenant Kenneth A. Smith and family prepare to relocate to Gowan Field Air Base Boise Idaho after leave from Milford. He is a longtime infantry reserve member and was promoted to first lieutenant. Milford honors his service while Beaver County leads in January Defense Savings Series E investments with $14 830. Mrs Tone Sedgwick Beckwith visits from McGill Nevada with two children.
