Specialists to Visit Beaver County For Home and Farm Projects

During March 16 to 20 four U A extension specialists will visit Beaver county to support agricultural and home improvement programs. Mrs Efe Barrows and Mrs Ethel Nielsen will present kitchen improvement plans at the Beaver Valley Library on March 16 and visit homes in the afternoon. Mr D P Murray and Mr J C Hoganson arrive Monday to lead training, dairy farming talks, and a Flat area meeting. On March 20 C C Brott will run a farm accounting school in Beaver for about 20 cooperators from across the county.

Milford Loses Final League Game to Minersville

Milford High School fell 22 to 15 at Minersville in a crowded gym. Horton led Milford with seven points while Andrews and Hickman added three each and Easton four on free shots. Minersville, led by E Carter with twelve points, clinched the division crown with steady defense and late scoring.

Business Women Plan Dinner And Public Relations Banquet

Members of the Business and Professional Women met Monday at the Atkin Hotel and approved plans for a public relations banquet to be held tonight at Milford Hotel Cafe. Milford lodge representatives will discuss community service, and Miss Veronica Davis was named to organize a vaudeville program between moving pictures in early April.

Fire Destroys Two Beaver Business Buildings

A Monday night blaze destroyed the Bon Ton Confectionery and Beaver Barber Shop in Beaver's business district. Jimmie Lindsay raised the alarm after seeing flames in the barber shop storeroom, but a delayed hydrant connection worsened the damage. The dining room area was only lightly harmed. Owners Hyrum White and partners insured the buildings, with White valuing stock and fixtures at about 7000 and denominations of insurance noted. The barber shop fixtures were insured for 1000. The fire origin remains unknown.

Auxiliary sponsors contest in making home playgrounds

The American Legion Auxiliary and Better Homes in America back a Milford backyard playground contest. Prizes will go to the best playground, with zones four committees to canvass homes. Annie J. Atkin and Veronica Davis funded initial prizes, as eight new members joined the Auxiliary drive bringing membership to 52.

Five witnesses testify on first day of Corn Smith manslaughter trial

The Corn Smith manslaughter trial opened with five witnesses on Tuesday as prosecutions and defense clashed over admissibility of a purported drunken quarrel statement. Judge Cox paused the hearing to weigh whether such testimony will be admitted when the court resumes Thursday at 2 pm.

Social Hour Club Discusses Flower Show Rules

The Social Hour Club met at the South Milford clubhouse to review rules for the annual flower show and plan participation. They arranged a March 1924 lecture by Effie Barrows of Utah Agricultural College on kitchen remodeling and color harmony.

Sixteen Milford seniors granted graduation petitions

Sixteen seniors will receive diplomas at Milford High School this spring after faculty verified credits and grades. Eighteen petitions were filed. all but two were granted with the condition that remaining term work meets standard. Names on the eligible list include Arthene Howard and Melvin Bowman among others.

The Milford High School auditorium hosted a well received musical program Sunday evening. Audience turnout reflected growing local appreciation for music from recent programs. Notable performances included Clair Johnson on baritone horn and trombone with praise from European masters. The Milford M I A mixed chorus joined Dr. Parrish violinist Miss Mortimer pianist and vocalist Isaacson bass Hand with twilight songs in French German and Italian.

Agronomist to Visit South Milford Farms

The South Milford Community Club sponsors a visit and talk by Dr Hogansen of Utah Agricultural College on Monday March 16. He will tour local farms all day and speak at 8 PM at the Community Club House on dairy crops best suited to South Milford conditions.

Miss Bessie Kil lam and Gerald Hancock were married Saturday night in Milford at the bride’s home with Justice Herbert Nichols officiating. The ceremony drew family and close friends and the couple will reside at the Atkin hotel before moving to Caliente.

Milford High stages school operetta with student cast

Mrs Pete Newell visits her husband in Milford while Milford High School presents a dining room operetta. Foster Morris leads as defendant with Charles Clements and Farrel Peterson among the jury. Cast includes eighty five jurors bridesmaids and spectators. Orchestra features Thuth Pool Jean Done Loraine Bowman and Sarah Pool. Direction by Lorne Han and J M Hughes with stage carpentry by Hughes. The silent operetta features singing and no spoken parts.

Milford Lions Attend Beaver County Commissioners Meeting

Milford delegation led by Mayor Hubbell meets the county board on March 6 to press oiling the Milford Minersville highway. State road officials outline a 74 to 26 cost share for 17 miles of oil road with several Beaver County projects. The board rejects Parker’s meat inspector offer and adjourns after approving expenses and the county agent’s office move.

Fewer Car Licenses Issued This Year in Milford

Milford reports 242 automobiles registered so far this year per L G Clay motor vehicle inspector. Registrations lag behind last year’s 284 and the 1900s total of 876, with 64 cars yet to be registered. Revenue from car taxes and license plates also fell from 2190 to 1941.
