Milfred Public Library reports year of activity

The Milfred Public Library released its annual report noting over 11 500 books borrowed during the year and 805 books restocked. 22 volumes were donated and 4 475 reference notations were provided to inquirers. 605 magazines were circulated.

Negro Ghosts to Play Legion Five on Tuesday

The Negro Ghosts visit Milford High School gym next Tuesday to face the American Legionnaires. Prominent rookies Garland Clark Rand headline the lineup with strong ball handling and scoring, while showmanship and stunts are planned to draw the crowd. The Ghosts have a history of travels through Utah towns including Ephraim Gunnison and Murray as they prepare for the road game.

Stonehoeker Car Burns on Highway After Fire

Mr and Mrs Afra Stonehoeker viewed the blaze as their car caught fire on a Beaver County highway about five miles from Beaver Sunday morning. Returning from the Cedar City basketball tournament Mrs Stonehoeker drove. the vehicle broke down and burned. Passengers included Dan Hutchins Roy Coleman and others.

Milford City plans well at fairgrounds as top water source

City officials discuss zoning and safety measures at a Milford council meeting. A new 17½ foot well at the fairgrounds will be completed today, expected to yield more water than existing wells. Drilling at the library park begins Monday, with 100 trees ordered for the fairgrounds park.

War vets open new Milford cleaning establishment

Ray C. Griffiths and Charles J. Chamberlain plan to open a cleaning and pressing business in Milford on Monday March 10. The store will reuse part of the former Milford Electric and Milford Dry Cleaning equipment, filling a local need as residents currently take cleaning elsewhere. Chamberlain, a Summit County native, served in the Pier Artillery and Griffiths is a recent release from the Engineers after WWII service.

William Bond Dead After Morning Illness at Milford Hospital

William Bond 60 died this morning at Milford Hospital after a brief illness following a minor operation. Born September 2, 1880, he was married to Ros Sly Bond and active in LD S church work. Surviving are his wife, children Wilma Stroud Arvilla Williams Ruth K Limb three granddaughters and many relatives including two brothers, two sisters, three stepsons and four stepdaughters.

Symphony Ducats On Sale For Beaver Beamed Concert

Beaver residents can buy 150 seats for the Utah Symphony Orchestra concert in Beaver this Friday March 14 at Corner Drug. Mayor Carlyle Gronning announced tickets usually cost 3.50 to 5.00 but Centennial Committee subsidizes part of costs to offer tickets at 1.20. A total of 1000 seats are available with 190 tickets set aside for Mitford music lovers. no reserved seats, so early arrivals preferred.
