Faster Seal Sale Opens to Aid Utah Crippled Children

The 1948 Easter Seal Sale begins March 4 in Utah, with Governor Maw proclaiming National Faster Seal Month to boost donations. Gold and Green Ball features fine floor show

The Milford LD church hosted the Annual Gold and Green Fall Ball sponsored by the Gleaner Girls and M Men. The event featured a Serenade of the Bells theme with gold and green decor, a stage garden setting, and a throne shaped like an inverted VW. Queen Jerre Lyman and attendants were announced, with Gene Puphinawi Me introducing performances by Leland Thompson and other students.

Milford High presents Through the Keyhole in lively comedy

Milford High School staged Through the Keyhole in the auditorium last Thursday. Critics and patrons praised the cast led by Dean Steineckert for selecting and directing the lively three act comedy. Betty Sue LeBarcon Grand ma Tierney and Betty Sue Hickman as Ada Jane Me honey received standout notices for expert handling of roles alongside Deward Nac Kim Torney and Paul Rhodes as the butler. The audience roared with spontaneous applause at the breezy humor and engaging performances throughout the night.

South Milford to Adopt Meter Rate and Telluride Takeover

Maurice Moore escapes Yarrow explosion at sea

Maurice G. Moore of Milford serving on the destroyer Dimean narrowly escaped death when an explosion aboard the ship last Monday left one crewman killed and six injured about 260 miles from San Diego. Moore reported to his mother that all was well after being relieved from duty. The damaged destroyer was escorted to port by the aircraft carrier Bairoko.

Mother of C A McWhorter Passes Away

Mrs Pauline West McWhorter 67 mother of Clarence A McWhorter of Midford died last Sunday in a Pocatello Idaho hospital after a brief illness. Born January 19 1881 in Maryville Missouri she was married to J O McWhorter October 10 1900 in Ravenwood Missouri. They moved to Pocatello in 1939 after living in Stanbery Missouri. Surviving are husband sons Verdon T McWhorter Chalmer W McWhorter Clarence A McWhorter Mrs W Doheny Mrs Sprague 12 grandchildren and a sister Mrs Stella Porter. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon with Rev LeRoy Walker of Pocatello officiating.
