Strategic Metal incorporated two Utah corporations shipping tungsten ore from Granite Mining District properties to the U S Vanadium Corporation for Metals Reserve Company of Salt Lake City during February. The first carload of 53 dry tons from Milford grossed about 1400 dollars, the second carload of one dry ton to Salt Lake stockpile grossed about 1490 dollars, with a fourth car expected next week. Operations include the Lessing Cutler Robinson properties near Beaver active under a ten year lease, road access built by the Federal Government, and ongoing drifting and cross-cutting to open additional tungsten veins plus underground work at the upper shaft for high grade ore. Leaders listed include foreman Jonttis Thompson and miners Warren Thompson, Al Huntington, Galuis Huntington, Arch Fotheringham, Walter Mackerell, and Robert Draper.
Daily Metal Mines Inc reports nine car loads of tungsten ores shipped from Granite mining claims twelve miles west of Beaver. Ore values averaged 569 dollars per car load variety, totaling over 5000 dollars. Company plans weekly shipments and expanding to 50 ton daily mill, with development opening 200 foot level. RC
Milford High School vocational agriculture department resumes adult education for western Beaver County. Willard Esplin invites interested people to meetings in Minersville on March 8 at 8 o’clock and Milford on March 11 at 8, with a farm machinery repair class starting March 14 at 8 p.m. in the Milford High School shop.
John William Kirk, 71, native of Bingham, lived 34 years in Milford. He died Monday at the home of his daughter Mrs Dette Dallin in Sprineville. Body to Milford for interment. Funeral arrangements set for Thursday afternoon. An obituary and service details will appear next week.
Milford Tigers defeated the Beavers 32 to 21 in Beaver to clinch second place and secure a regional round robin berth in Cedar City. The win gives Milford two victories over their long-time rivals in one season and sets up a four-team playoff in region six with Cedar City and Dixie district champions.

Milford High School hosted the annual Future Farmers of America banquet with Miss Thomas and domestic science staff serving a full meal. Lorraine Gilling presided, Principal Handley gave the invocation, and speakers including Jack Stahl, John Griffiths, and Lane Frazier shared experiences in farming, military training, and college plans. George Hurson performed, Willard Saplin accompanied, and Jack Beudehaw delivered the chapter’s oration. The event drew many students and parents with continued support from the faculty and honorary members.
Dairy program details from Beaver where 1% of tuition funds were noted. Lyman J. Rich, extension dairy man, summarized points on ration, bulk, palatability, and minerals.
