Sheep Ailment Reported Near Milford in Beaver County

Dr. Hendricks investigated a herd seven miles southeast of Milford where lip and leg ulceration has caused losses. Affected sheep will be moved to a farm for individual treatment and feeding until recovery. A windbreak tree effort and local notices follow, with community members listed.

Milford Man Urges Debt Cancellation at Oxford Talk

Dr. W. F. Cottrell of Miami University urged canceling World War I debts in a Kiwanis talk at Oxford Ohio. He argued debt cancellation would boost foreign purchases of American goods, stabilize prosperity, and ease debtor countries' political strains. Harry Woods Takes Service Department at Motor Inn

Harry Woods, long-time Why-Not Service Station man, has taken over the service department at the Motor Inn garage with W. Carlson continuing in charge of the mechanical work. Woods is an ex-service man known to Milford motorists for years of reliable car care.

Milford Lions Discuss Road Matters at Regular Meeting

Twelve member Lions and two visitors met in the Union Pacific dining room with President R E Ellingsworth presiding. Discussion focused on Buckskin Bone Hollow road linking U S 91 and 85, its potential side tracking, and a state highway bill draft. Sheriff Niels Jensen initiated the topic noting local support. Ellingsworth and Wynaught led the dialogue. The group noted a projected $70 000 plus roads budget for Beaver county’s upcoming construction season. New Pastor to Arrive This Week

Miss Levi Hosts Chiquita Club Dinner Evening

Society notes report Miss Dorothy Levi entertained the Chiquita club at her home Friday night. A midnight lunch honored Misses Della Kirk Erma Fotheringham Hannora Hutchins Mildred Killam Elenora Hardly Loretta Murdock and Betty Murdock with Betty Murdock winning points and Hannora Hutchins taking honors. The club then dined Sunday at the W A Miller home with a three course dinner for the same group members.

Debates On War Debt Solutions At Kiwanis Talk

Delta and Beaver tied for first in Millard division

Delta Rabbits led by Coach Joe Snow defeated Minersville 24 to 16 and Beaver cagers under Coach Pearce beat Milford 24 to 16. Both teams remain in a deadlock for the division lead as Friday’s games wrapped up.

Kite Flying Cited as Dangerous Local Sport

Local youths are urged to limit kite flying to open areas away from power lines. A Telluride Power Company representative warns that kites near wires risk entanglement and service disruption, citing a recent incident near the Horn Silver mine. Reports of residents traveling to Cedar City and Kanarraville include J. P. Williams and Mrs. Williams with Misses Kinney and Bird, plus Wadsworth’s departure to Fillmore and a Salt Lake City crew member visiting.

Gang Loots Candy Wagon in Milford Garage Heist

Sunday night the “Chicken Dinner” candy wagon run by Mr. Sparks was robbed of roughly 85 to 90 bars. Marshal Kronholm traced candy wrappers to a vacant south town house used as a clubhouse, finding about fifty bars in a ceiling hole. No arrests yet. most suspects are known and watched.

Acreage Cut Required for All Crop Loans in 1983

The 1983 crop production loan regulations require a maximum 30 percent acreage reduction for cash crops. The $90 million RCFC fund supports loans, with limits of $300 per farmer beyond minimum reductions and no loans to farmers with two or more prior delinquencies. Interest remains 5 1/4 percent, notes due by Oct 31, 1983, and advances may be made in installments. Local field agents will distribute forms and assist applicants.
