Milfort Veterans Post Plans Two Day 4th Celebration

The Espilante Pont No 1516 Veterans of Foreign Wars sponsor Milford's first large family Fourth of July festival. Events include a band concert, candy scrambles with prizes, a Milford vs Delta Junior League baseball game, a water carnival at the municipal pool, games of chance, lunch at The Casino, a multilo re rifle shoot, open dance at the tennis court, a flag ceremony, candy scramble for more prizes, a Beavor Whe tam vs Milford baseball game, horse racing, competitive shooting, a grand fireworks display, and evening dances in the Avion hall.

Milford swimming carnival lineup for July 3

The Milford munis quals list events for a two day celebration sponsored by the Veterans of For dum Wars. Manager La Vor Voorhees notes growing popularity. Events include free styles from 25 to 45 yards for boys and girls 10 to 15, open diving, breaststroke, backstroke, relay, tandem, and a finale with a coin toss. Special prizes at night feature fire dives and a boys under 10 division.

Officers Elected For Coming Year By Lion Club

The Lions club held a formal officer election at the regular luncheon on Wednesday noon. Nomination committee reports were adopted with two of four nominees chosen as directors by secret ballot, and J Cass Root named president for the year starting July 1. Other officers include Dr R R Shannon first vice president and J M Haughes second vice president. Directors are L A Wynaught C Roch George Jefferson and E R Moody. Robert Sherwood Appointed to Beaver County Commission

Robert Sherwood of Milford, a veteran miner and Democrat, was appointed to the Beaver County Board of Commissioners representing the west end, replacing O F Hubbell who leaves Utah for Caliente Nevada. Sherwood will serve until year end, completing a four year term started by RK Ellingsworth in 1982.
