Hannah Orwin Bowen Dies in California

Mrs. Hannah Orwin Bowen, longtime Milford resident, died in Santa Monica California after illness. Born in England in 1844 she came to the United States as a girl, first living in Frisco during the mining boom. Survived by eight children including Harry Bowen and Dr Walter Bowen with services held in California.

Local mill to start shipping of copper concentrates

Metal Producers mill west of Milford to begin shipping copper concentrates Saturday June 17. Superintendent C Peacock said the plant will run 24 hours a day if needed, producing about 30 percent concentrate with 75 percent extraction from oxidized copper ore from the old OK dumps. The mill, built in 1948 for Horn Silver ores, was refreshed after closing and will ship two cars weekly once current stock is milled, then commence open pit mining of copper ore.

Rail workers groups set Idaho meeting in Montpelier

The Utah Idaho Association of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and Ladies Auxiliary will hold a joint convention in Montpelier Idaho on Tuesday June 20 Registration opens at 9 a.m. in City Hall with an open meeting at 10 a.m. and a closed Auxiliary session at 1 p.m. A banquet and dance at State Line Border starts 7 30 p.m. Kathryn Zetche and her Ogden Drill Team headline the evening entertainment. About 150 members from both groups are expected to attend.

Central American Millers Visit Milford Family

Mr and Mrs M and two daughters of Managu Nicaragua were four day visitors at the J B Miller home last week. The Central American Millers visit the Milford Millers every two years and enjoy their stop in Milford.
