Delegates to the district convention were J C Smith and O C Koch.

District court opened the murder case against Donald Lawton Condit 24 of Los Angeles. The state seeks to prove Condit shot Harold A Thorne and beat him with rocks on a west desert highway near Cedar City on March 20 after an alley drive in Thorne s car from Las Vegas Nevada. Jurors seated include Arthur Gardiner Claire Platt John Maxwell Richard Williams James Tweedie Harold Smith Frank Matheson Woodruff Pendleton Ray Adams H Lane Austin William Flint Spach Joseph Banta and an alternate Vern Mortensen Payowan.
Miss Helen Farrant of Lone Beach California visited the Cook home last week and is a niece of Mrs Gert rude Gook. Ethel Stanley and Thira Smith of Ogden were guests at the Walter Weber home last Thursday. Mrs Weber, sister of Miss Stanley, joined them to Zion’s can yon Friday morning. Stanley stayed at the park where she works in the park museum this summer. Carl Elmer and spouse spent Decoration Day at Delta Truett Morrel, visiting relatives, left for San Pedro California after recently marrying a Baker Nevada woman. Mrs Reid, who rents Dr Weir’s farm, went to Bakersfield California Wednesday. Karl Murdock spent last weekend with home folks. Helen Baker left Wednesday for Bakersfield California to visit relatives. Mrs Art Williams joined the temple excursion group to St George Tuesday. Mrs Walter Weber hosted American Legion Auxiliary Tuesday night with a brief business meeting and bridge. Delicious refreshments followed.
The M Men softball league organized by the Mutual Improvement Association of the L D S church expands from the largest basketball program to a softball league. Milford ward bishop Laurence Peterson says players will include all adult priesthood members this year, then eldered quorum members next year. The Beaver stake four wards schedule opens June 6 with Beaver East vs Beaver West and Milford vs Minersville, followed by a series of matchups through late July.
