Beaver and Milford Lions clubs funded Wasatch County High School band of Heber City to attend the International convention in Los Angeles where the 90 piece unit won first prize of 500 dollars and a second prize of 100 dollars for the girls drill team. Delmar Dickson led the group which had a record of Utah state wins and a Denver national result.

County Levy Decreases as School Levy Rises at Special Meeting

Milford Gets Wild 14 9 Victory Over Minersville
Milford defeated Minersville 14 to 9 in a lively game on Sunday. Rochek pitched well for Milford limited threats until the seventh. Peterson finished as Milford’s defense faltered at second base. Minersville, led by Ty Gillins, saw errors costly early, Marshall in center made several putouts, and a backstage rumor about a Pioneer Day pig chase affected the crowd.

Backyard Play Ground Contest Awards Display Civic Pride
The second annual Backyard Play ground and Improvement Contest sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary closed July 20th and prizes were awarded at Legion Park July 26th. First prizes went to Joe Rogers for best Playground and Mrs. J. M. Williams for most beautiful yard, with several honorable mentions. Forty eight yards entered. judges Lew Mar Price Chas Ford and Wm Gardner praised the efforts and Milford civic pride. Roy Rogers attended the Olympic game in Los Angeles.

Milford ward of the L D S church receives a deed for a one half interest in the old Murdock academy building east of Beaver. The structure will be razed and its tufa stone material used for a new ward chapel on Sloan apartment house lots. Kirk Realty Co. arranged the deal and conveyed the lots to the church.
