Summer Band Work Comes To a Close
The two months long band and orchestra course led by Alvin H. Baker at Milford High School ended with a Sunday evening performance at the LD S church. Three numbers by the orchestra impressed the audience, reflecting school board support akin to programs in Minersville and Beaver. Baker directed weekday section practice and later full orchestra work with regular band sessions on Monday Wednesday and Friday evenings.

Over fifteen years ago King George and King Albert became Honorary Coal-passers aboard the U S S New York after visiting and firing boilers. the two shovels are on display in the crew's reception rooms.

Social Hour Club Plans August Flower Show At Club House
The Social Hour club met at Mrs J G Weber’s home with a large turnout. Parley Pisher reported plans for an August 16 flower show at the club house inviting homeowners and gardeners to exhibit, noting no prize for containers. Delirious refreshments were served by The Noetess and Mix Horace Palmer. guests included Mrs J M Weir of Los Angeles and Mrs Eimer Golden. The club to give its clubhouse annual cleaning on August 2 and invites help.

Storm of July 23 Causes Widespread Flood Briefing
The Beaver county area saw heavy rains improving conditions early in the week with South Milford reporting lighter rainfall. Frisco hills experienced cloudburst levels, but most floodwaters diverted toward Wah Wah valley. Milford's flood channels and a triple culvert near the oiled highway managed overflow, though water backed up along the east road to South Milton. Turbid flows from Thermo could have worsened flooding if not steered away.
