Black backs the venture with strong faith as a 500 foot depth gallows-frame and new shaft work advance. Surface shows ore bodies and four new bodies were found along a 100 acre patented property amid monzonite diorite and dacite channels.
Reports of collisions with domestic stock roaming highway 21 recount several New William Morris car incidents. Foster Morris and boys struck an eight horse near Adamsville, wrecking the car. Earl Stonehocker and Miss Evan Coleman hit a calf crossing the road. Lund Turner and Herman Jensen swerved to avoid a horse near Adamsville and overturned, prompting a help call from Glen Stonehocker.
An advertisement promotes the Radium Warm Springs a mile east of Minersville operated this year by M. M. Jameson. The resort offers low regular rates with further discounts for large groups and private use of pool and dance floor by advance arrangement. Pool open daily except Monday from morning until midnight.
Utah dealers must follow the gasoline bill from the twenty first legislature effective July 1. Chief Engineer K Wright reports most service stations fail to meet octane requirements across grades from 75 to 44. Refiners and wholesalers will be notified and given 30 days to liquidate stock before penalties.
Mr and Mrs La Voll Parsons were badly damaging their car Sunday night when a road hog crowded them to the roadside and the vehicle overturned near Beaver. They were returning home after taking Miss Helen Parsons to Beaver for a Logan bus trip following a Milford visit.
Veterans gathered for the funeral of Jesse P. Stephenson 54 Nada the last Civil War veteran in southern Utah who died July 18 after a stroke. Full military honors included a flag draped casket a firing squad and a Beaver national guard unit in uniform. Bishop M J Christensen led the service with J M Hughes singing and the American Legion chaplain officiating. Former Bishop Miller praised the veteran as a fine citizen and father amid war memories and community respect.
Milford defeats Parowan 10 to 6 in a regular league game at Iron County Capital. Horton homered twice and struck out 12 on the mound in a strong pitching performance. Carter and Rochek contributed with doubles and timely hits as Milford builds late lead. Parowan tallies come in early and late innings.
I L Rood of Caliente, a former Milford resident, is spending a few days in Milford visiting old friends before his planned travels through southern Michigan and Canada. He retired from the Los Angeles and Salt Lake railroad last May after 24 years of service and intends to resume residence in Caliente later this year.
We thank friends neighbors and all others who assisted us and befriended us during the fatal illness and burial of our father Anthony Stephenson Oscar Stephenson and others.
The annual Pioneer Day parade in Utah drew crowds and many floats highlighting 4 H clubs and community groups. Prizes for floats went to the Relief Society Legality float and the Primary Pioneer float. The day included a church program, music, talks, a water fight, a four o’clock softball game, and an evening dance at the L D S recreation hall.
Milford tennis fans enjoyed a men's singles tournament won by Roy Coleman. Exhibition mixed doubles featured players under stage names the Helens, with Walter Martin as Helen Wills and Jim Keough as Helen Jacobs. Spectators praised Helen Wills drives and Jacobs form. Refreshments and dancing followed under the lights.
