Dr. E S McQuarrie narrowly escaped death when his Nash coupe left the road near Minersville cemetery. The car vaulted a 27 foot wash, landing on the opposite side. He sustained head cuts and a tongue injury requiring fifteen stitches, and was treated at Milford Hospital before returning home to Beaver. Les Clay retrieved the wrecked vehicle, damaged by several hundred dollars.
Mrs. Martha Proctor, a Gold Star mother, will depart for France on July 20 after receiving her ticket and instructions from the war department. She will take the train at Marysvale on the 20th.
Hollywood rumors of voice dubbing fade as Gloria Swanson confirms she speaks and sings in The Trespasser. She, director Edmund Goulding, and executives present affidavits that her voice is on screen. News staff observe her live performance while others attend and applaud.

On next Thursday July 21 District Court will convene at Beaver likely for one day as Law and Motion Day. Judge LeRoy Cox will be present. The regular district court trial session in Beaver county opens September 1.
Mrs Lena Morris underwent an operation at the hospital Tuesday. Trex Marshall, confined since July 4 from a fall, has recovered enough to go home in Minersville Wednesday. Margaret Williams, previously critically ill, is improving. Mrs Glen Lewis was operated on Thursday last week for appendectomy.
Boy Scout Troop No. 6 of Milford held a watermelon bust sponsored by Skaggs Safeway last Friday. The 24 Scouts attended and enjoyed the event, with Donald Moore needing attention briefly and Ferguson living up to his reputation.
Ely Nevada seeks to unite with Milford Beaver Utah Lions clubs to lure Pacific coast travelers along the Lincoln Highway toward Zion Canyon Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon via Lehman Cave meeting near the Utah Nevada line. Route would connect San Francisco Reno and Ely with Baker Milford and Cedar City for a coast gateway.
A Purdue University report on the Morgan Hemdricks County Dairy Herd Improvement Association shows that profits from fourteen select cows equal those from two hundred poor cows. Beaver Valley work has culled over 30 cows, while Dr. Parker new to the county pushes improved milking schedules and rapid tuberculosis testing across Beaver Valley and surrounding townships this week and the week of July 28.

Forest Ranger Albert Cox and wife moved into Raymond Hodges property and, returning home, found valuables stolen including a $125 wrist watch and a $75 pearl set.
The Oregon Short Line plans a two mile railroad spur from Las Vegas to Boulder Dam as federal funding unlocks $150 million for construction. General manager H J Plumhot says the line will relieve unemployment and haul supplies and passengers to the dam project.
