Milford Second Ward sponsors Pioneer Day on Monday July 25 with a parade at 10 am on Main Street a program at 11 am foot races at 1 pm including the bishopric race free swim from 2 to 3 pm a baseball game at the Fairgrounds at 6 pm and fireworks at 8 pm Concessions will operate throughout the day.

Milford man Spencer Whittaker dies in Salt Lake City
Spencer Whittaker 63 Milford resident died of natural causes at 6 p m Saturday in a Salt Lake hospital while visiting daughter Ardith Ryan. He was born November 1 1891 in Salt Lake City to Joseph and Esther Skillion Whittaker. He married Clotel Funten in 1917 in Salt Lake. He served as a Union Pattie Engineer for 44 years retiring in 1982. Survived by widow Clotel, sons Ald and Keith of Milford and Hyan of Salt Lake, brother Sydney of Salt Lake, Leland of Bellflower CA, sister Thelma Peper of Salt Lake, and four grandchildren. Funeral at White Chapel Mortuary Salt Lake City burial City Cemetery.

1600 antlerless deer permits authorized in Besver Milford area
The Besver Milford region will issue 1600 antlerless deer permits for the 1055 season. Beaver North gets 600, Beaver South 600, Mineral Range 500. Permits valid during the same period as the regular hunt October 22 to November 1. Sales start at Beaver Court House at 9 a.m. August 29. remaining permits will be sold until exhausted.

The Beaver Lions and racing fans await the annual Dairy District Race Meet starting Friday at the Beaver Fair Grounds. The Wah Fish and Game Commission announced hunting dates for two game bird seasons. Opening day for mourning dove hunting is September 1. Nine hundred sage grouse licenses were tentatively allocated for seventeen districts. Some areas hunt September 1 to 11, others September 17 to 18. Proclamations will be available in August, and requests to move the fall pheasant opening on Armistice Day, November 11 were denied.
