Milford Promised Better Phone Service Hearing

Milford residents gathered at town offices after a meeting to hear Oak County district official Wile Bickmore outline promised improvements. The plan includes new lines to Salt Lake City and Los Angeles connections, with Lakes Los Angeles wires routed to Milford if feasible. Utah Communities to See Fine Shows Thru Centennial

Utah counties and Centennial areas will host tours by top national artists as part of the 1947 Utah Centennial program. Public relations director David L. Trevithicle says caravans will visit every vicinity, offering performances not normally available in the state. The plan includes local sponsorship, beautification drives, and topnotch productions under Dr. Levin Wheelwright, with opera, variety, and film acts slated to accompany centennial celebrations.

Milford's softball league winds up the first round of the second half with a pair of ladies games at Fairgrounds Park. The schedule shifts to a two night four week pattern next week, featuring two ladies games and one men's game. Daughters of Utah Pioneers Hold Beaver County Outing

Beaver County D UP chapters held their annual party at Milford's Legion Park. Eighty six members from Andersen Greenwood Belnap Lincoln Susannah and Silver Desert camps enjoyed a rustic lunch and program. County Vice-Chair Edyth Osborne spoke on self reliance, with Cort Jones Milford singing and Armina Banks reading. Leaders include Lettie Fotheringham Milford Madge Carter Minersville Armina Manks Lincoln Susannah.

Four 4-H clubs enjoy Kent Lake county outing

Six Milford 4-H clubs attended a Kent Lake outing with activities including campfire, hiking, swimming and cooking. Leaders listed for Out for Fun Stitchers Victory Clover Second Youthhood and Home Makers. A log sawing contest saw Nelouise Schow and Laverne Hughes win by cutting a 12 inch log in 24 seconds.

Milford Group Performs Temple Work in Manti

More than 25 members of the Milford Ward Genealogical Society joined an excursion to the Manti L D S temple. They performed 26 endowments for the dead, 24 marriages for the dead, and sealed 428 children to their parents. The group included Mr and Mrs Rulon Hansen, Mr and Mrs Carl Goodwin, Mr and Mrs Rudolph Nielson, and many others, returning late Wednesday evening.

Milford Pioneer Day parade and events planned

Polio Workers Offered Re profresh er Course

A two day intensive refresher course for graduate nurses and a separate emergency volunteer program for lay women are announced by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. The courses run at Pinecrest Inn in Ammigration Canyon Beaver County with expenses paid. training dates July 29 to August 3 and August schedule for the nurse program.
