Jacob Tanner Dies in Beaver After Long Public Service
Jacob Thomas Tanner 61 prominent LDS church worker and merchant died last Thursday in Beaver following a long public career. Born May 11 1671 in Holden he moved to Milford then Beaver in 1906 where he ran a meat market and grocery. He served as bishop of Milford Ward in 1908 counselor in Beaver Stake Presidency and Miller High Priest president and held various civic posts. Survived by his widow seven sons and daughters and many grandchildren and siblings.

Mary Mionina Blackburn Fisher aged 88 known as Grandma Fisher was honored Sunday by more than 40 relatives from Loa Fremont St George Summit Pinche Cedar City Mitford and Minersville at the Goodwins home. The gathering featured stories a buffet lunch and tribute to her late parents Elihs Hicks Bucher and Nancy Phipps Lane and to her son Joseph Martin Fisher.

Encampment Highlights at Beaver County 4-H
Ruth Cline reports the Beaver County 4-H encampment held July 14 15 and 16 at Kents Bake. Officers were elected and committees formed. Guests included state forester Bill Hart assistant forestry professor and local officials. Awards were given for skits log sawing and crafts. John Deere dealer Warby’s Service announced new heavy duty tractors to be showcased July 18 with displays for visitors.

Celebration July 24 Free Swim Dance and Fireworks
The Milford Plain L D Ward sponsors the 1952 July twenty fourth program with Bill Nichols and Cecil Stewart directing events. Contests prizes and races at Library Park in the morning and a fireworks show at Fairgrounds Park in the evening. There is no admission but voluntary contributions are welcome to help defray costs.

Kent Myers Named Camp Commander at Hamilton AFB
Kent E. Myers, Milford High graduate and former cadet colonel at BAC, was named commander of the cadet summer training camp at Hamilton Air Force Base California. Lt Col Oliver W Harris announced the assignment last week. Myers joins other BAC air cadets at the base and training camp, with Col Harris saying he is the third BAC student colonel to gain such recognition.

American Legion Opens Free Ambulance for County Residents
Milford area residents gain 24 hour ambulance service at no charge through the Milford American Legion post. Dr. Eugene Davie donated a 1947 panel ambulance and will train Legionnaires in first aid and emergency driving as part of the community service program.
