Milford weighs a plan to resolve a large financial deficit tied to a county fair project. A Monday meeting will decide whether to hold the fair this fall, aiming to reduce or eliminate the debt. The piece recalls eight years of Civilian Conservation Corps delays on a Milford Modena road project and the CCC transfer woes last week increasing travel distance for enrollees.
Trainees from Milford, Farrell E. Peterson and Harry W. Clark, recently inducted for selective service training, are assigned to the infantry replacement training center at Camp Roberts California. New officers include President J C Smith first vice Parley B Fisher second vice Sam Cline third vice Thomas Gerrand secretary treasurer David S Williams Lion tamer M H Pool tail twister Bert H Weight assistant tail twister J R Murdock Jr. Directors for 1942 LaMar Dutzen and Sam Cline. for 1943 E L Smith and O C Koch.

Names include Keith Warby, Charlie Freeman, Vernon Beard, LaVoy Green, Warren Smith, Austin Williams, Wayne Ashworth, Reuben Murdock, and others from Beaver Milford and Greenville, with numbers and placement details under Washington guidelines for sandwiching new registrants into the existing list. Induction timing estimates suggest questionnaires and classifications will proceed, with potential physicals and early 1940s draft steps likely by fall.

Vance of Milford follows a young flyer scarred by a crash until a sheepherder's counsel and a rescue restore hope.
