The Milford project area yields promise with a strong second alfalfa cut and exceptional weights. Bean crops, potatoes, and grains look fine, and Walter Weber’s farm highlights rich lands producing beans, grains, potatoes, and corn. Visitors praised the district’s crops and farms, noting little advertising of its productivity.
Betty Lou and Bobby Harrisoin, children of Walter Harrisoin, were operated on this morning for removal of their tonsils. Miss Pauline Mathews has recovered from an appendectomy and will go home in Minersville Wednesday evening. Harry Edwards was brought in with a fractured foot from a cage at the Frisca Lu lu mine. William Stewart, long in hospital after a cave-in at the Mosco mine, is well enough to go home to Adamsville. Rex Marshall, injured in a Minersville horse race on July 4, underwent an operation at the hospital Tuesday.
Rush Med oil well advances to 4126 feet through red limestone with oil and gas showing. Derricks rebuilt, 368 casing set at 3914 feet. There is 100 feet of water standing in the hole.
From Delta Chronicle, the Boy Scouts of the Delta Second Ward Destret Stake plan their annual outing at Puffer's Lake led by Scout Master Frank Farnsworth. About 82 to 40 boys aged 12 to 17 will travel next week for a week of camp activities, fishing interludes, and daily programs including woodcraft and signaling talks. A hike to Mt Belknap's summit is planned.
The Milford Lions club luncheon at the Milford Hotel featured guest M. H. Male state sanitary engineer who praised the club for sponsoring the new pool and for its sound construction and sanitary precautions. Visitors Mr and Mrs Gaylord Martin and Mr and Mrs Abe Fotheringham were mentioned.
State and federal agencies plus the extension service will conduct a free compulsory tuberculosis test for all dairy and breeding cattle over three months old in Beaver County. Testing sites include Minersville Milford Milfordtown Adamsville Greenville and North Creek with dates July 21 and 23 and the remainder the following week. Cattle not presented will be quarantined and movement restricted until tested.

Miss Catherine Smithson died Friday July 11 at her sister Mrs. B E Palmer’s home in Portland Oregon. A Milford longtime resident she helped build the town and supported civic causes, aiding the needy with prayers and deeds. Her memory sustains Milford and her influence remains in the community.
Paramount brings Zane Grey tale to screen with dialog The Light of Western Stars stars Richard Arlen and Mary Brian and features a strong supporting cast. Otto Brower directs this outdoors action drama portraying the last stand against banded lawlessness on the frontier.
L E Fournier general superintendent of Telluride Power and Miss Beatrice Myrtile Lee of Tooele were married at the bride's parents home in Tooele on July 10. Helene Lee and Emma Lou Green were bridesmaids H B Waters served as best man. Only close family attended and the couple will reside in Richfield.
The infant son of Mr and Mrs Rulon Anderson of The Bybee Ranch south Milford died early Wednesday morning at two months and twelve days. Burial will be at Beaver.
Word reached Milford that the American Telephone and Telegraph Company will begin construction on a new building adjacent to Milford town land bought months ago. A large, multi-purpose facility is planned as a power station and maintenance HQ for the local line, with over twenty five carloads of material expected and a substantial workforce. Water mains have been laid to the site by Milford.
A plan to organize an association to advertise Southern Utah was discussed at a Pan Earthh meeting with Beaver and Milford representatives. Richfield was set as a target location for a fall 60 day timing with three delegates from each town. The item notes local residents and visitors including Dr. J Frazer's death and various residents’ travel and visits.
The new swimming pool in Milford opened last Friday to strong participation across ages. Mildred and Bessie Killam top the women’s doubles, while the mixed doubles show Mildred and Robert Killam ahead among strong contenders.
Milford defeats Ely 12 to 10 on their home field in a closely fought game. Milford’s batting impressed as they won the second consecutive meeting with Ely who scoured the state for players. Next Sunday Milford hosts Iron Springs and on the 7th faces Beav er at the Pioneer Day celebration in that city.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the B of R T Lodge hosted a handkerchief shower for Albina Muir F W McKay and Mr s W Harrison at Mildred Rochek home with Bingo prizes and a late luncheon. Mrs F W Gospill and daughter Gladys entertained at bridge. multiple women attended, prizes awarded, and refreshments served.
In the Star district near Milford Utah operations at the 900 and 1600 foot levels of the Moscow mine press forward. Managers report entering the objective zone at 900 feet and a strong showing at 1600 feet with expectations of finding deeper ore shoots similar to upper levels that yielded over a million dollars. The new sulphide zone indicates potential for zinc and lead, with plans to ship to Salt Lake flotation to monetize zinc values. Nearby visitors include Mrs E Hodge and son, Earl Sibran, noting Utah’s rich resources.
The Sloan home on Stoddard Street hosted dinner guests Tuesday evening including Harry Livergood. The Pierian club met Monday evening with Mrs. Hughes presenting The Dandlish Tesson and a Question Box. Mrs. Roy White read A Foreign Attack on Prohibition. Meetings were adjourned to the last Monday in September and refreshments followed desirably.
