Rollin R. Shannon Dies In Indiana Auto Wreck

Rollin R. Shannon, a Milford physician known for his patient care and military service, died in an Indiana car crash on a late evening. He had recently moved toward the coast and planned medical work in Van Nuys. Survived by widow Kathryn, mother Katherine Shannon, four children Sheila Dana Ky Jun, brother Rainey, and several Kirk relatives, with funeral plans pending in Williamsport.

Fourteen and Under Log Sawing at 4-H Club Camp

Harold Baker from Minersville and Darlene Nay Jeannette Gilling from Milford sang and spoke during the evening programs. Noel Wood shared six Washington DC camp experiences while The Lucky Circle Club from Minersville led a candle lighting ceremony. Winners across contests included Clea Camp Lat-The Seisser Sewlye Sallies Northt Cros led by Thelma Twitchland and Roxy Clever Club Mitfived with plant identification and kitchen clubs from Beaver Greenville Milford and North Creek.

Morrison Retires as UP Utah Division Superintendent

William J. Morrison, longtime superintendent of the Utah division for Union Pacific, retires at 65 after a career spanning Denver & Rio Grande Western, Southern Pacific, and Union Pacific roles. Morrison began as telegrapher in 1899 and will spend months traveling before settling in Salt Lake City.

Air tourists aid Lehman Cave blaze fighters

Six Milford aviation enthusiasts flew to Lehman's Cave last Sunday and, after greeting custodian Max Wainwright, were pressed into service to help fight a serious forest fire. They arrived at Baker Lansing strip by 11 a.m. and assisted in battle over burned areas before returning to the cave.

Mr George Mitchell of Beaver is receiving treatment at Milford Hospital. Judy McWhorter, daughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence McWhorter, was admitted after swallowing a coin and chest fluoroscope tests were performed. Mr Sherwin Wood had an appendectomy on July 7. Mr George Spainhower was admitted for treatment on July 12. Harold Marshall of Mineersville is at Milford Hospital. Beaver High Gets Work In School Auditorium With New Budget

The state levy will be slightly less this year but Beaver County’s needs rise if the tentative budget from the recent School Board meeting is adopted, potentially increasing the district levy. Repairs\nand improvements span Beaver and Milford schools, including acoustic ceiling work, rewiring, lighting upgrades, window frame replacements, and a double tennis court, at an estimated cost of about 10,000 dollars. Six teacher vacancies remain, housing shortages hinder staffing, and the board will finalize staff by next month.
