Pasadena Junior College Fulldog Band Concert Delights Milford

The Pasadena Junior College band of 100, known as the Fulldog band, performed on a temporary stand at the Milford High School grounds before a large audience. The concert featured marimba, accordion, steel guitars, and a male chorus, with the band returning from Chicago’s Century of Progress and praised for its fine musicianship and community impact.

Mines show renewed activity at Beaver Gold and Copper

Work on the Beaver Gold and Copper company silver lead property will resume around July 15. A cross cut will be run 20 feet from the bottom of the 300 level to the fissure containing high grade ore. The vein is about 3 feet wide with gold values averaging 26 per ton and samples up to 40 per ton.

Milford to Open L D S Chapel in Pioneer Day Festivities

Milford plans a July 24 Utah Pioneer Day celebration highlighted by the formal opening of the new L D S chapel and recreation hall. A big parade features local businesses and groups, with an afternoon of baseball, horse racing, rodeo events, and swimming, followed by an open dance in the evening.

101 Additional Men Coming Here

As announced last week in The News all Civilian Conservation Corps camps in Utah are recruiting to the original 200 man quota. Milford and Beaver counties share in the enrollment with 11 men from Milford joining Beaver camp at 11 o clock Friday for transport to Camp Delano commanded by Captain Snidown. Additional recruits will report to Wah Wah springs desert range camp from Salt Lake, Tooele, Millard, and Millard County with 11 cats arriving to aid the new entrants.

D and Kirk and Milo Hardy traveled to Los Angeles last Saturday. Captain Timothy Sapia-Bosch, camp commandant, and M. E. Goodnow of Salt Lake, Union Pacific claim agent, attended the Milford Lions luncheon yesterday. Lt and Mrs W E Kraus of Beaver Canyon camp, newlyweds six months, took a weekend trip to Salt Lake before Mrs Kraus continued to the coast en route to Hawaii. Honoring her sister Miss Ethel Stanley of Ogden visiting, Mrs Walter Weber hosted a bridge gathering with two tables and guests Mesdames Stanley, Scot Tanner, M P Lewis, Horace Palmer, Carl Elmer, D. S Williams the honoree, and Miss Stanley.

Kilingsworths Move into Milford After Ranch Sale

South Milford reports the Kilingsworth family has relocated to Milford following the sale of their ranch. A Milford Firemen dinner for the community is planned for Sunday July 16 at the club house. Richard Leedom from Glenrule California visits his cousin Midon Cates for the summer. Mrs Harve Hedges visited last Sunday with Reuben and Mrs. Jones. A neighbor gathering celebrated Mrs. Walter Weber's birthday at the Weber farm with Carl Elmer Horace Palmer George Stanley J G Weber and Unterhill in attendance.

Town and Camp Exchange Entertains Milford and Wah Wah Oaks

A planned exchange program kicks off next Wednesday July 19 at Wah Wah springs camp with town and camp performers including Miss Stella Mollis and Dr. C R Parish. The camp will return a program to Milford likely July 26 as community support is urged and transportation arranged by the committee.

Playground Garden Contest In Full Swing At Milford

Milford American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a playground and garden contest with 40 entries. Three prizes will be awarded for best playground, best vegetable garden, and best flower garden. Judges include William Gardner and several local residents. Judging runs July 31 to August 3. awards announced August 4 as a big children’s day event. Mrs. Flor O. Levi returns from Hollywood visit.

Milford lads win 22 to 4 over Minersville in local park

Mise Vernice Smith returned from Fish Lake while Bud Hutchins starred on the mound for Milford as the Junior League fellows crushed Minersville 22 to 4 Saturday afternoon. Walter Getchel, 29, received 30 days in county jail after pleading guilty to petit larceny involving clothing from a sheep wagon near Rock Corral, a first warning from the county attorney that petit larceny will be severely dealt with.
