Residents in South Milford seek rural free service with a forwarded petition to Wa ttony for next regular session. To date only two signatures are recorded, with calls for more names to gain favorable approval.
Minersville residents hosted several visitors from nearby towns as they gathered for a week of activities. The piece lists attendees, including Mrs Hayward Carter and Mr. Truman Bradfield, and notes a 4-H club event led by Gehil Hyre and Emily Gillins with 15 percent of the town present.
Milford Town President Gronning warned future violators will be prosecuted under watering ordinances with penalties up to a $10 fine and 30 days in jail. Watering limited to 7 to 9 am and 6 to 8 pm. hoses allowed with care. unauthorized use risks broader bans to protect supplies through August.
Mr. George Metcalf of Fairbanks Morse and Co in Salt Lake City visited Milford on Wednesday and Thursday to test the Milford water wells. He conducted extensive interior pump tests and will report findings to the town board.
Beaver County 4-H Club leaders and extension workers plan a three day outing at Kent Lake beginning July 15. About 150 members and guests are expected to attend with many parents likely joining for picnics and activities. Events include games, campfire programs, handicraft, nature hikes, and educational elements led by college and forest officials. Campfires July 15 and 16 will feature music, skits, stories, and storytelling in a forest setting, with Tim Jacobs and Ranger Hamner Christersen representing forest service attendees. The group will break camp after meals on July 17 under guidance of forestry specialists.

Governor Herbert B Maw will attend a Milford mass meeting on August 8 to hear sentiment on declaring Milford a city of the third class. A letter from the governor was read at the July 5 town board session and August 8 was tentatively agreed. The town plans weed spraying at 5 per lot. J W Myers was authorized quitclaim deeds for lots 8 and 4, Block 17, Plat B after 25 payment. Concrete floors in airport hangars were approved as final work for GI training airport approval.
Milford Softball league resumes second-half play with Why-Not Service facing Sam's Appliance and Newsboys meeting Sportsmen's Club to settle cellar spots. Penney's leads after a 23-8 win over Newsboys. Railroads and Newsboys have forfeits. Whitbeck's girls team undefeated at 2-0, Stewart-Dunn 2-1.
Lions Club votes to enter a float in the Milford July parade with a tentative committee to plan details. Funds rise from 85 to over 250 this fiscal year as members discuss weed control, local utilities, and inviting Governor Maw to a mass meeting.

Ralph A. Days, son of Las Vegas residents, nephew of Bert James of Black Rock, is an ecodiscoverer of americium and curium per Life magazine. He studied at Black Rock School and Wasxtch Academy Mt Pleasant Wing, graduated from the University of California with top honors, and now works in chemistry at the University of Chicago with Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg on atomic research and reminers for weaponization.
The Bell System faces scrutiny as inquiries are launched into service levels in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. Trens Smith and the Murdock group were appointed to investigate and have the authority to veto requests for improved telephone service.
Beaver County welcomes Betty Jeanne Stone as the new home demonstration agent to start duties Tuesday. She arrives from Park City after graduating from Utah State Agricultural College in 1842 with a foods and nutrition major and clothing minor. She brings experience as a home economics teacher and United Airlines cafeteria manager.
Town Marshal Allen Bingham has renovated Milford’s old jail in his spare time. He cleaned the interior, polished plumbing, and burnished the pewter metings. The improved cellhouse is now free of odor and vermin, making the jail a tidier, safer place for inmates.
Personal notices list Norma Jean Grimstraw returning home from a week with cousins in Lynn and relatives visiting Milford and Miversville.
