Legion Clubroom Taking Shape in Milford Project

Milford's American Legion elbroom will open soon in the former Palmer Baxter Recreation parlor. Remodeling converts Dick's Barber Shop into a ladies lounge and adds a meeting hall and bar. The club will operate as a nonprofit social venue for Legionnaires with proceeds funding community projects. Volunteers are sought, paid $1 an hour, contact Crahan Walker or just show up to help.

Girls 4 H Encampment to Start Monday at Kents Lake Campground

Begnor County 40 Chih encampment to be held at Kents Lake on July 14 15 and 16 with about 150 4 H Club members leaders and chaperones attending. Election of camp officers on the 14th at 4 p m. Camp fire programs July 14 and 15 at 7 30 p m. Activities include singing story telling crafts nature study and competitions. Attending officials include Prof Raymond Moore Bill Hart H M Christensen and Grant Esplin.

Milford Odd Fellows Plan Youth Delegate to United Nations 1953

Mrs Vena Wilson reports on the 1953 Youth Pilgrimage to the United Nations by Milford Rebekah and Odd Fellows youths. The trip funded by state lodges ran June to June with chaperones per ten youths, visiting cities and landmarks including Radio City Music Hall the Empire State Building Statue of Liberty UN Building and Washington DC.

PMA Urges Early Arrangements For Soil Conservation

Beaver County PMA chairman B Nevers urges beaver county farmers in the 1952 Agricultural Conservation Program to complete planned conservation work this year. Arrangements for dirt-moving equipment and Soil Conservation Service technicians should be made now to avoid last minute rushes and ensure material supplies. No wheat acreage allotments or marketing quotas for 1953 are announced as the wheat stock grows.

On June 17 Mr and Mrs Roy Shields and daughter Shtr len left for Portland Oregon via inland Idaho and the Snake River then along the Colunisia river to Portland They visited friends there for two days then toured the coast to the Redwoods and San Francisco for a short visit with Mrs Shields sister They then went to Press to see relatives Weather in Fresno was unusually cool They returned home Sunday after a breathtaking trip through Yosemite National Park and Taings Puss Sharlene.

Chichens Circus First Ward Feature In Milford

John A. Strong's Children's Circus drew a standing room only crowd in Milford last Monday evening under the First LDS Ward sponsorship. The strictly children's show impressed both kids and adults with clean wholesome entertainment and high caliber acts. Ward Bishop Dick Jones praised Milford citizens for support and noted a generous sponsor share of proceeds with fair cotton candy prices and admission.

Birth of a daughter to Sgt and Mrs Donald Pitchforth

Word confirms a daughter born to Sgt. and Mrs. Donald Pitchforth in Salt Lake City on July 2. Mrs. Pitchforth stays in Salt Lake City while her husband serves in Korea. Mrs. Pitchforth to Milford early next week after over a month in New York for her mother Mrs. Katherine Mundelsohn’s illness. Mrs. Mundelsohn died on Monday July 7. Marie Lewis of Los Angeles visits Milford with her sisters and families. the Brimberry and Weston families returned to Milford after six weeks in Indiana visiting relatives.
