Milford Floods Swamp Town After Heavy Rain and Hail

A severe downpour drenched Milford and surrounding areas, flooding basements and ground floors, washing out gardens and streets. About 2.44 inches of moisture fell in under 12 hours, causing extensive damage along Main Street and the western drainage, with anticipation of further flood risks from east and southeast runoff.

St George Tops Cedar City in Utah Baseball Tilt

St George finished second in the Southwest Utah Baseball league by beating Cedar City 18 to 4 in Cedar City. The win puts St George at five wins in six games and secures at least a spot in the three game championship series for the first and second half winners. Beavers Beavered Minersville 10 to 9 to move Milford into second in the first half.

Eyre Family Reunion Draws 150 in Lyman Wyoming

The James Eyre reunion at Lyman Wyoming brought 150 visitors with 75 from Minersville. James Eyre lies in an unknown grave and his wife Ann Neylor Eyre died crossing the Atlantic. The event featured a 45 voice chorus led by Arnold E. Blackner and speakers including Lloyd G. Eyre.

Flood Ravages Main Street and Nearby Homes

The seven to fourteen inch flood along Main Street damaged the Atkin hotel basement the P C O1 garage and several company houses on Railroad Row. Jay Jeffers and F E Casterline homes suffered worst while Keough house stayed dry. Officials warned of more storms and urged joint flood protection planning.

Milford Gets 20000 PWA Loan For Water System Upgrade

Milford will receive 20000 from PWA for water system improvements including a new steel tank and extended service. The plan provides 36000 as a grant and a 14000 loan to be repaid over 30 years at 4 percent with interest only for five years. Local officials stress urgent benefit and urge acceptance.

Murdock Speaks At Brief Milford Independence Program

Mil ford's Independence Day plans were disrupted by a storm and floods the night before and a fatal Milford-Beaver highway accident. Congressman Abe Murdock spoke briefly at Legion park about the flag, as the town held a small ceremony with a school band and Boy Scouts. Milford won 8 to 4 in a non league baseball game against Minersville.

Beehive Girls Return From Camp After Tragic Car Crash

Seventeen Beehive girls returned from the M T A Girls home in Beaver mountains. Paragonah youth Clifford Topham, 22, was killed in a collision on highway 21 near Minersville. Five others were seriously injured. several more suffered cuts and bruises. A coroner's inquest found death due to accident from unavoidable causes. The community prepares relief and a benefit play, His Masters Voice, to aid affected families.

Emergency drought loans open to farmers and stockmen

Farmers and stockmen in designated emergency areas may apply for loans to buy feed or seed for forage crops. Loans are administered by the Farm Credit administration with a 5 percent interest rate due at maturity and monthly advances to cover one month of feed. Applications note limits by head and by acre, with specific security arrangements and eligibility restrictions including non-corporate farming and non-mrought livestock purchases after April 1, 1934.

Salt Lake Guest Lois Hansen Returns from Mexico City Visit

Miss Lois Geneil Hansen of Salt Lake City is visiting her aunt Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen after a three month stay in Mexico City. She traveled there in March as the guest of the daughter of a University of Mexico professor who had studied in Salt Lake City.
