Panga Reach Road Plan Draws Milford Lions Interest

Milford Beaver Lions clubs leaders conferred on restoring a route from Panguitah to Panguitel via Hear Valley Bone Hollow and Buckskin Flats for year round traffic. A Milford Beaver delegation tour was proposed ending at Panguitel to gauge Garfield county support. Main Street in Milford faced severe wear prompting paving talk. Also discussed were aiding a visually impaired Milford boy through education and possible minor operations before school transfer. An American Legion baseball game proposal on July Fourth failed, with Lions eyeing water polo at Puffer’s Lake.

Community notes and gatherings in South Milford

The Pierce family from Portola California and Mrs. H W Maddren along with two children arrived to stay at the J G Weber ranch for July. Mrs Madden and Miss Marjorie Ann stay through July while Mrs Cates hosts relatives. The Community club meets Saturday July 6 at the club house and the Social Hour annual picnic is planned for Sunday July 14. The Flat youth dancing party drew a large crowd at the club house last Thursday.

Sudden Death Shocks Milford Friends

A young man named Peterson, recently hired at Milford Pharmacy, died suddenly after acute indigestion Friday night. A 29 year old Evanston, Wyoming native, he had moved to Milford less than two months ago. Survived by three brothers and three sisters, he was a Mason and former RC T C service member. Funeral services were held Thursday in Evanston.

Mrs Murdock from Beaver visited Mrs Geo Fernley while R Murdock entertained for Mrs Newhart on Friday afternoon with fortune telling. Vir Cochrane visited Salt Lake, G Davis of Kingman Arizona arrived for a visit with W Johnston. J M Hughes and family drove to Salt Lake last Tuesday. Voyle Hanchett plans Fourth with friends at Fish Lake. John Stahl and family spending time with his parents at Black Rock. The Fourth featured quiet family trips into nearby hills.

Bee Hive Girls Camp Plans Change At Lake

The Bee Hive Girls of Mitford will attend a summer camp at Puffer's Lake replacing Cedar Breaks in the original plan. They aim to raise funds for the trip by two or three methods as part of their preparations.

State Press Head Visits in Milford

The News office welcomed Clyde A. Epperson and Mrs. Chas. Saxton of Kaggville for a Saturday afternoon visit. Epperson is Utah State Press Assoc rep touring to meet Southern Utah editors and map their plants. Saxton, Epperson's sister, backs the Utah American Legion Auxiliary and is viewed as a leading candidate for its next president.

Rain derailed Eastbound Train 22 at Milford Friday, due at 2:30 PM. Engine and baggage car left track, roadbed damaged, about forty five minutes delay. Local shops crew cleared the line, Lynnday wrecker used to set train in order.
