New Beaver County Registrants Total 19

Sulphurdale Miner Dies From Injuries

Sulphurdale miner Lloyd Thorns Muir aged 33 died from crushed chest and internal injuries after a brake failed on an ore car at the Sulphurdale mine 18 miles north of Beaver. He died early Sunday at Milford hospital. Survivors include his wife Maurine Anderson, three daughters, his parents William J. and Mary Ellen Muir, two brothers and three sisters. Burial is planned in Beaver after funeral services Wednesday.

Ten Dispatchers To Be Added To Milford Force

Milford gains ten dispatchers and a report clerk to be housed in a new locker room complex north of the station. Construction, beginning soon, will expand traffic coverage to two districts Milford to Caliente and Milford to Lynndyl with day and night chief dispatchers. The project raises Milford payroll by about 8000 monthly but housing for the new men remains a critical, widening problem amid a longstanding local housing shortage.

Aged Pioneer Jane Banks Dies at Minersville

Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Banks 73 lifelong Minersville resident who died Sunday at the family home were held Wednesday at 2 pm in the Minersville L D S ward chapel. She was born September 28 1867 in Minersville daughter of James H Rollins. Surviving are her husband Frank Roberts and John R Banks two daughters Lois Hollingshead Inez Carter two sons Frank Lynn Roberts Raymond Banks Robert Banks a brother Julian Rollins a sister Berdette Hollingshead two half sisters Melissa Lee Ida Hamblin 42 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. CCC Advantages For Young Men Set Forth

Young men aged 17 to 28 seeking a second chance at education and a trade are invited to enroll in the Civilian Conservation Corps starting July 1. Special auto mechanics and radio operation schools are opening in Cedar City Salt Lake City and Ogden, with other camps offering drafting blacksmithing welding cooking clerical work and tentage repair. Enrollees receive daily work training academic subjects physical development meals and hours under staff physicians and visiting dentists, with $80 monthly pay allocations including spending savings and parental allotments. Transfer of Upstate J A Norman to Salt City

J A Norman, a railroad signal maintainer, has been transferred to Salt City. He reports that Mrs Norman and the children are now in Salt City with Mrs Norman's family and that he will soon leave for the new post. The move is seen as a loss to Milford of a notable family, but the town wishes them well as The News tracks their progress.
