The Milford Women’s Salvage committee reports 1944 kitchen fats contributions totaling 4 835 pounds. From January to May 1 1944 Mrs Fred O Leary chaired shipping 2850 pounds. May 1 to December 31 Mrs Robert Limb reports 2439 pounds. Since January 1 1945 she has shipped 200 pounds. Fats are saved at local butcher shops for two red points per pound and sent to Salt Lake City.

Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen says schools, theatres, and public schools lead a continuous program with three War Bond prizes awarded to the top per capita collectors: $100 for first, $50 for second, and $25 for third.
Registrants listed by local Board 31 Beaver county are summoned for pre induction physicals at Fort Douglas on January 25. Norman Hutchings Leland William Dalton from Minersville Chester Nelson Sly and Ray Bradshaw from Beaver are to accompany county youths to Salt Lake City for further examinations. First Lieutenant Thomas Karl Janney, Milford High School 1988 graduate, married Miss Lillian Mullicane of Tulsa on December 23 at Midland Texas Army Air Field chapel. The couple honeymooned in Fort Worth after a double ring ceremony. Janney, a veteran aviator, served overseas in India and now works at Midland ATT Air base.

Ley Carter, a government trapper from Minoraville, parked his truck on Main Street Wednesday and watched as three large mountain lions, two males and one or more females, were treed by dogs and killed under his supervision in the Beaver Range. Carter had previously killed more mountain lions than any other on record.
