Birthday Ball and Canvass to End March of Dimes Drive
Funeral services were held in Minersville for Isaac Newton Nolder 88 who died Sunday at Anderson Ranch Convalescent Home. He was born in East Elizabeth PA and lived in Pittsburgh before moving to Minersville. He is survived by his widow and children. The March of Dimes Birthday Ball on Jan 26 at the High School gym proceeds go to the March of Dimes fund. A door to door canvass on Jan 31 will close the drive with Garners urged to contribute.

Manzione Killers Again Sentenced to Death
Melvin LeRoy Sullivan and Vern Alfred Braasch, transient killers of Howard Manzione of Beaver, were sentenced to die before a firing squad on Tuesday February 26 at Parowan before Judge Will Hoyt. It marked the third time Hoyt imposed a firing squad sentence. Appeals to state and federal courts were denied.

Longtime Milford pioneer Frank Osborn dies at 76
Frank Loren Osborn 76 died Thursday night in Milford Hospital from pulmonary hemorrhage. Born July 10 1875 in Minersville he mined and served as deputy sheriff in Frisco Utah. He lived in Newhouse Copper Gulch Frisco and Milford where he led mining crews and wildlife groups and was a high priest in the LDS Church. Funeral services were held in the LDS Chapel with speakers and a mixed quartet, burial in Milford City Cemetery.

Teachers Are Students The Beaver Guidance Series
The first in a series of teacher guidance classes for Beaver district instructors was held in Beaver on Wednesday January 23. J M Hughes Milford High School guidance director led the Milford contingent. Four more classes are scheduled with Milford to host the next session.
