Need of Panguitch Link Looms Again

The Lions Club discussed methods to build a good highway between Panguitch and Beaver. They urged Milford to act slowly in raising funds, citing wasted effort on a road north of Milford. They favored seeking legislative action to place the project on the state road program rather than fundraising. A Milford publicity plan was referred to the committee. Dr L F Kohler gave a resume of current events.

Town Audits Clerk Books In Two Year Financial Review

J W Edmunds Co of Salt Lake City completed the town audit covering the last two years. The town shows 9000 dollars less cash on hand but spent 27000 dollars on four street projects, with 12000 dollars repaid to date. The full report is lengthy and on file with the town clerk for public inspection.

Milford Churches Note New Year Services and Sermons

Christian Science Life lesson and cited Bible passages lead a weekly church note. The New Year service on January 12 drew good attendance. Methodist Church featured a distinctive Picture Sermon and three musical numbers. Hours listed: Worship 10 00 a m Sunday School 11 00 a m Evening 7 30 p m Thursdays 7 30 p m.

Eliscoro Amaja case ends with fine and out-of-town floater

Eliscoro Amaja of Mexico was found in possession of liquor and fined at the justice’s court last Saturday. He chose to pay the fine and received a floater to leave town after several days in jail awaiting hearing. Deputy Sharp served the warrant on Stolm and Amaja was taken into custody.

Sub Women Thank Those Who Donated

In response to a request to aid Milford families in hardship this winter a large supply of clothing was donated. Distribution by B P W club members brought comfort to recipients and the club thanks donors and the local paper for assistance.

Ray Casterline Weds Panaca Girl in Mil ford

Ray Casterline returned from Nevada with his bride Miss Lila Gentry formerly of Panaca Nevada. The ceremony took place in Las Vegas on January 16. He has resided in Milford for about a year succeeding his brother F E Casterline as freight agent. The bride is a Panaca Nevada girl. The couple will reside in Milford.

Estimable Woman Passes to Reward

Mrs. Jos. Kopp of Cedar City traveled by Milford train number 8 on Thursday morning with the body of her sister Miss Mary Corlett who died in Salt Lake City on the 22nd from pneumonia. Miss Corlett once worked at the Milford post office and for ten years served as secretary of the Salt Lake County Hospital. Many friends here remember and mourn her passing.

Railroad business gains momentum locally

Railroad activity has risen in the past week with seven trainmen recalled to work. Milford added an extra switch engine shift to meet growing traffic while some car clerks faced transfers due to staffing stringency. Trains ran behind during a cold spell but have since resumed normal schedules as Rules Examiner Scarborough conducted inspections of maintenance of way staff before moving east to audit transportation employees.

Disappearance of Maurice Graham Stirs Milford Searches

Weeks into the search for Maurice Graham local authorities and volunteers report no progress with planes from Army Navy and commercial services sweeping the Salt Lake to Las Vegas route.
