Milford Lions Back Milk for School Children Plan

Milford Lions vote to sponsor a pint of milk daily for school children with 25 cents monthly from each student and milk provided via Milford Creamery pasturization. Education committee to oversee. monthly high scholarship winner to attend Lions meetings. Lions also push letters to lawmakers on butter substitute taxation to aid dairying.

Funeral services for Horace Elmer held here Sunday

Horace Elmer of South Milford who died last Wednesday was remembered at a two o'clock service in the L D S Church. Bishop Bird presided as opening prayers and hymns were offered by the choir. Speakers included Bishop H Tanner and Bishop W Miller, with Bishop B H Bird giving a short address. Interment followed in Milford cemetery with graveside dedication by Bishop Frank Williams. Elmer, a Beaver county native born 1864 in Beaver, Utah, left a wife Elizabeth Ann Richards and ten living children.

Elam Fouts drove to Minersville Monday to attend to business and visit with local residents.

Milford License Drive Sparks Harsh Penalty Warning

Citizens have until March 1 to renew licenses for four cars. If Sport or Fannie are not licensed by February 1, authorities warn of drastic measures, including seizure and disposal. City Marshal Roy Coleman notes dog licenses must be obtained before February 1 with fees of two dollars for Sport and five dollars for Fannie.

Milford Volunteers Fill Two Fire Department Vacancies

Milford Volunteer Fire Department met Tuesday night with President Carl White. Tommy James and Bill Singleton were voted in to replace T. B. Widwards and Keith Fernley who moved away. Kenneth Hollis and Lewis Davis were fined for equipment duties and threatened with a fire hose shower. Next meeting may appoint committees for a Firemen's Ball.

Social Hour Club Elects Officers At Thursday Meeting

The Social Hour Club of South Milford met last Thursday with Mesdames Weber and Palmer hosting. Officers elected for the year are president Mrs Ivan McKnight vice president Mrs Parley Wisher and secretary treasurer Mrs Horace Palmer. Five new members were added and the next meeting on January 29 will include sewing instruction from Miss Ellen Agren with a no hostess day designation.

Two Infants Die at Minersville in Week Funeral Notices

Milford News reports two infant funeral notices from Minersville in the past week. Theodore, child of Mr. and Mrs. Dan J. Stewart, died and was remembered with songs and prayers at the ward chapel. Garry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewayne Carter, funeral services followed with church speakers and musical tributes.

Milford High to Publish First Tiger Tattler Jan 26

Milford High School announces the first issue of the Tiger Tattler, a bi monthly student newspaper. Two hundred copies printed with Milford News as printer will be distributed to students and local patrons. The paper is independent and self supporting financed by local merchants advertising. The reorganized staff includes Editor in Chief Mella Hodges and business manager Robert Killam with editors in various departments and an assist staff.

Mr and Mrs Karl Carlton Leave Milford for California

Mr and Mrs Karl Carlton depart Beaver on Saturday to spend several months visiting and motoring through California. They stopped in Milford Thursday to bid friends goodbye before their vacation.

Utah Legislature Faces House Senate Party Strife

In the 10th Utah Legislature session the house split along party lines as Democrats and Republicans clash over leadership. Both chambers show Democrats holding key chair positions. Republicans lack unified support. Governor Dern has delivered the message, with no formal disposition yet. Nevada return of Milford boy in grand larceny case

A warrant was issued for C. A. Cappinger on grand larceny charges filed by Hattie O Leary, proprietor of a Milford cleaning business. Deputies traced him to Las Vegas where he was captured. extradition waived and he was brought back for arraignment before Justice Bert Nichols.

Bettilyon Hurt At Work In Battery Plant Accident

Lou Bettilyon suffered an eye injury from acid while handling batteries at the A. T. S Building. The eye was dressed and he will not have lasting consequences. He cannot work until Monday and will visit his parents in Provo during the interim.

At the first annual Utah Turkey Growers Association meeting in Salt Lake City, officers were re elected. Speakers praised the Northwestern Turkey Growers Association for stabilizing prices and expanding cooperation, forecasting stable flocks and profits for 1931 amid improving marketing and research efforts.

Water mains freeze triggers city water shortage

Several water mains froze Tuesday night causing a temporary shortage for residents and city officials. One Act Play by Junior Class Presented in High School

Friday afternoon a one act play titled The Weak Spot was staged in the high school auditorium during the student assembly. Principal E. J. Beaver Boy Dies in Milford After Illness

Ray Beaumont twelve year old son of John T. Beaumont of Beaver died Monday after an operation for appendicitis failed to save him. He had been ill several days before the seriousness was realized and died at Milford hospital. Survived by his father and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services held in Beaver on Wednesday.

Beaver Stake Conference Planned for Weekend in Beaver

The Quarterly Conference of the Beaver Stake will be held in the East Ward chapel Beaver on Saturday evening Tamwary 31 at 7 20. Sessions follow Sunday at 10 pm and 2 pm with visiting authorities from Salt Lake City. Model dairy project planned for Milford Meadows

Local businessmen plan a Milford Meadows dairy unit as an experimental station to show modern farming methods. The quarter million project would employ fifteen men and generate about 5000 monthly from butterfat sales while boosting the local creamery. John Coffeen will travel to Los Angeles to confer with R. Milford high school crushed Hinckley 26 to 11 on the local court Saturday. Horton and Easton led Milford scoring while Pratt carried Hinckley’s offense. Milford Members Install Beaver Lodge Officers

Milford members of the 1 0 0 BP presided at the Beavers installation during a Beaver lodge banquet in Milford. District Deputy Grand Master Roy Coleman installed the Beaver officers, with Morgan Griffiths and Sheldon Zabriskle on the staff. Guests included Atton Swain, Willard Nichols, James Glen, and Al Tormnik. Coleman and his staff then presided at the Cedar officers initiation in Cedar City on January 11.
