Wynaught Attends Associated Civic Clubs Meeting in Salina

L A Wynaught and wife attended the January meeting of the Associated Civic clubs of Southern Utah in Salina as Beaver county’s representative. President Gardner urged a results driven year, backed Buckskin Bone Hollow road inclusion on state secondary roads, endorsement of Snow College remain a state institution, and February meeting planned for St George.

Young Mother of Ten Dies in Greenville

Sarah Barton Thomas 40 wife of Richard R Thomas of North Creek died at her sister Mrs Margaret Morris home in Greenville Saturday morning after weeks of illness from heart trouble Brights disease and complications. Born April 11 1892 in Greenville she was educated there and at Murdock academy. She married May 18 1910 to Richard R Thomas and they lived in Greenville before moving to North Creek five years ago. Survived by husband ten children plus six brothers and sister. Funeral services were held in Beaver Tuesday.

Improved by a systematic tree planting program over about five years per so. Two hundred hardwood trees each year on every farm would add real value to all property. The hard woods are fast growing and valuable timber.

Change in Managers at the Atkin Hotel

A. A. McIntyre of Salt Lake City became manager of the Atkin Hotel effective Sunday January 15. G. A. Halverson, former manager since Mrs. Annie J. Atkin departed last February, left with his wife and four children for Salt Lake City. Milford residents welcome the McIntyres and wish them a pleasant and profitable stay.

Benefit Dance At Arion For L D S Chapel

Plans for a large charity dance at Arion Hall on Saturday evening January 21 to raise funds for a new L D S chapel. An enlarged orchestra will perform and advance ticket sales suggest a record turnout. Also noted are several measles cases reported in Milford at present.

Former Milford businessman dies in California

Angus Buchanan longtime Milford merchant died January 11 at his Compton California home. His body was taken to Provo for burial after a Milford sendoff. He once ran a Milford drug store selling in 1914 to Brooks later owned by Lamar Outzen. He moved to California in 1916 with his wife and son and later lived there. He is survived by son Eugene. Funeral followed in Provo cemetery beside his wife and a daughter who died in childhood.

Two Nevada Men Held for District Court Delinquent Bail

W. H. Porter and Ralph Ellis were extradited from Nevada on charges of obtaining money under false pretense and waived their preliminary hearing. Bound over to district court, they will remain in Beaver county jail due to lack of bail funds until trial.

Wah Wah Summit Snow Depth Reported After Storm

S M Jorgensen P C Mathews and W J Winch arrived from Wah Wah valley Tuesday night reporting 18 inches of snow on Wah Wah summit and about 10 inches in the valley following the storm.

High School Opera by Milford set for February First

Milford high school to present the opera Bobby on February 1 with a 21 piece orchestra using the original manuscripts loaned by Clair Johnson of Springville. Thirteen cast with a chorus of thirty six may grow to fifty, plus a Broadway style dancing chorus.

Six Nimrods from Milford Dan Davis George Fernley Lloyd Kohler Wayne Richards Lewis Sales and Lester Williams set out to hunt mountain lions in Wah Wah valley but returned empty handed. Their boastful claims and brave resolve were noted amid a lighthearted local tale.

Town Briefs Record transfers and visits in Milford area

Roadmaster J Greening transferred to Caliente Nevada and many residents make trips or announce visits to Salt Lake City Las Vegas Los Angeles and Ogden. A new birth and church services are noted along with operations and family travels including Fernley and Williams.

E. Martin, new press agent, goes to Caliente to plan moving his family to Milford. Charley Chamberlain from Provo to relieve the road master as Greening is transferred to Las Vegas. J. H. Weston moved from the mechanical foreman post to Caliente replacement W. T. Morley. Several brakemen shift duties with Goff and Price returning to Salt Lake City and Carlyle and Shockley assigned Milford out of Salt Lake. A. L. Coey and R. L. Adamson assist Roadmaster Wardenburg, who is ill in Salt Lake.
