Milford’s basketball team played well but lost their opener on Friday night on the shore. The Milford five battled Delta and Cutland, with Leite scoring 18 points as the squad showed improvement in the later halves. The Fillmore quintet defeated Beaver Taps 2 6 to 26, boosting Milford’s upcoming Friday clash on the focal floor.
A funeral was held Sunday in Caliente for 74 year old former Milford resident iim Rood. The retired engineer died in Salt Lake City from heart trouble and was sent to Caliente for interment. Division No. 681 of the B of L E organized the services with several Milford attendees listed.
A Los Angeles based prospector Ambrose E. McGarry, born in Beaver County, leads San Francisco Mines Inc to develop Grampian hill near Horn Silver. The Pomona Group and King David claims push tunnels and shafts toward galena and silver deposits, with plans to expand ore production across 400 acres.
The Joen Business and Prosecina Womens club held a night meeting at the Milford hotel to plan entertaining state officers and appoint chairs for committees. A dam just below the Lahinan caves west of Milford failed during the night of December 31. Water emptied from the pond into a drainage ditch. Ray Hood, a cave rescuer, helped by building a small retaining wall. A WPA crew is now reinforcing the embankment attached to the cave.
