Fishing season to open earlier under Utah proposal

Utah sportsmen may gain a fifteen day earlier opening for trout fishing from June 1 to June 1 with a closing date of October 1 if the legislature approves the State Fish and Game association plan. The proposal aims to protect spawn and boost trout stocks and imposes guides restrictions during hunting and fishing. Beaver hatchery operations will be supported with eggs and staff to maximize fry production.

Where Legislative Bills May Be Had

Rebakah Lodge 43 Installs New Officers

Victory Rebekah Lodge No 49 held its regular meeting with Deputy President Mrs Pool and a full staff installing the new term's officers. State Road Commission Announces Tax Funded Highway Plan

The road commission says state highways will be funded from gasoline and motor vehicle taxes starting Jan 1. Counties may levy a state road tax but only if state funds fall short for improvements. counties would need to finance local betterments on non federal aid routes.

Fire Department Quashes Home Blaze Sunday Morning

A blaze around the flue in Mrs. M. J. Armstrongs home was quickly extinguished by the prompt arrival of local firefighters Sunday morning. The fire caused only slight damage and repairs were limited to a new chimney.

Butterfat Drops Nine Cents Hurting County Dairymen

Butterfat price fell nine cents per pound in under ten days, lowering outlook for Beaver County dairymen and farmers. A drop from about 24 cents to around 15 cents per pound would cut daily cash revenue by roughly 150 dollars for local producers. Creamerymen and statisticians cite unusual fluctuation with low surplus and storage levels, warning of potential abrupt price recovery.

Two Men Return From Nevada On Fraud Allegation

Sheriff Neils Jensen returned from Nevada with two men wanted for obtaining money under false pretenses. H. W. Porter from Colorado and Ralph Ellis of Tooele claimed to be insurance operators and traded stock deemed worthless. They face a preliminary hearing in Milford with stock value $800 to $1,250.

Milford Merchants Aid VFW Toy Distribution

In the December 29 issue it notes Milford merchants donated candy and nuts for the VFW Christmas drive. They supplied paint, hardware and toy parts at special prices and gave new and slightly damaged toys. funds came from the VFW show, the cans, and subscriptions. J. Rickerson thanks the merchants as Toy Committee chair.

Ten year old Bobby Nichols son of Mr and Mrs Willard Nichols of this city underwent an appendix removal operation Wednesday morning at Milford Hospital. He is reported to be progressing nicely.
