Betty Denny and Fonda Morrell, runners up, will appear on Cedar City radio station program on an unannounced date.
D EB Stapley a former Milford resident and Conoro distributor was in town Wednesday and placed an ad inviting people to attend the MLLA Gold and Green Ball. The event will be held Friday January 28 at the commodious Legion ball and is described as a growing social highlight in southern Utah.
Freight figures compiled by F. S. Gaines show outgoing shipments totaling 132 carloads and incoming at 99 for the year. Forwarded loads include cattle, sheep, alfalfa meal, dried milk, wool, potatoes, peas, and other goods, while incoming freight features coal, gasoline, sawdust, brick, cement, ice, lumber, and more, with vegetable hampers and salt aiding pod pen shipments to regional markets.
A. E. Goss, land bank commissioner for the Farm Credit administration, reports August 1937 foreclosures at 2,891 nationwide the lowest in four years. Third quarter 1937 foreclosures total 9,719, down from 12,580 in 1936, a 2 percent drop. Also notes about 10,000,000 autos in America and a lighthearted horse remark.
Milford high school boys beat Cedar City high 42 to 33 in a preseason return game on New Year’s Eve. Milford led from the start with strong defense, 4 of 4 on free throws, while Cedar managed 7 of 11 at the line. The win signals improvement under coach Floyd Kotter, who brought Salina state-tournament experience to Milford, and bodes well for a competitive regional race next season.
The second diphtheria inoculation for school and preschool children will be given at Tuesta Grade School on January 17 starting at 9:00 a.m. It is essential that those who had the first shot return for the second dose to ensure definite immunity.
