Milford residents are invited to a Thursday January 19 meeting at 8 p m in the high school auditorium to discuss proposals to remodel the high school and construct a new elementary school. Also notes on a Western Union service ending after 30 years and a lost ladies purse in Milford post office.
Notice of an organization meeting set for Thursday January 12 at 7:00 Pp. M in LD 5 Church. All local civic fraternal and labor groups are requested to send a representative.
Milford hosts Parowan in the season opener as Millar Bolt and teammates aim to shake a long losing streak. Beaver eyes a strong defense while Milford seeks a first win under coach. Wayne game injuries kept three regulars out, with Boyd Worton leading Milford scorers in pre season loss.
Mr and Mrs Warren Johnson and Mr and Mrs Delier Kirk were in Las Vegas over last weekend. Mr and Mrs Sam Johnson and Mr and Mrs Saji Hickman of Beaver joined the two couples Sunday, and all returned home Monday.

Huge March of Dimes cards on display at B and J Club Milford and Van's Minersville invite public participation. Cards require coins to complete five dollars in dimes and will be sold to raise funds. The Birthday Ball benefiting the March of Dimes is set for Saturday January 28.
Mountain States Telephone Company filed a Jan 6 petition with Utah's Public Service Commission asking review of its Utah earnings. Vice president Erle C. Aaberg said wage increases over two years require higher rates to keep the company financially sound and support state growth. Current plant expenditures run about 11 million dollars annually with 1956 needs expected to rise. wage contracts in 1954 and 1955 add 900,000 to the wage bill. A baby boy was born to Mr and Mrs Melvin Persons on December 22 at Iron County Hospital.
Kent Myers, noted Utah athlete and Milford High School star, finished a standout season with the Air Force Itazuke Green Waves in Japan. He moved from end to guard, earned first string by mid season, and helped the team to a 10 1 record and second place in the Japan Air Force Conference. His wife Cherie and daughter Avne lived in Japan during his tour. He plans to teach upon returning to Utah in 1956.

More than 20 Milford residents and patrons urged the Beaver County Board of Education to issue bonds to modernize Milford High School and build a new Milford Elementary School. Speakers cited safety, heating, and equipment deficits, urging an engineer review and county-wide remodeling plans.

Vernon H. Gronieng fined 25 dollars for disturbing the peace. Dale Reese fined 15 dollars for participating in a fight. Rulon J. Hardy fined 15 dollars with 5 dollars suspended for noisy exhaust. Lloyd Mayer produced license, no fine for no driver license. Dave Tanner fined 2.5 dollars for parking in a red zone.
