Cedar City Families Spend New Year’s Holidays

Mr and Mrs Hubert Hiceman and daughter Carolyn of Cedar City spent New Year s with Mr and Mrs C R Grimshaw. Mr and Mrs Joe Murdock and six month old son David of Salt Lake City have been in Milford for the holiday season guests at the home of Mr and Mrs Joseph R Murdock. Mrs Evelyn Brannon and children Carol Jackie Pessy and Charles of Salt Lake City were holiday visitors at the home of Mr and Mrs Alvin Skillicorn. Mrs Dan Gillis and three children Crate Kevan and Bryan Nave returned to their home in Cedar City after spending the holidays at the homes of Mr and Mrs Sam Cline and Mr and Mrs S A Zabriskie.

Milford Tigers Open Season Versus Beaver Underdogs

Milford High School opens its 1952 basketball season Friday night at home against Beaver led by Kiehling with Paew and Cox. Coach P. L. Neal lists Bockwoldt at center Kinross and Bradfield at forwards Rowley and Fisher guards. Limited eligible players and four available reserves temper hopes as Milford plans to challenge a strong Beaver squad. Local supporters can buy tickets at Corner Drug or at the door. Clifford Hughes Dies in Ogden on Christmas Day

Clifford M. Hughes 45 died of silicosis in an Ogden hospital on Christmas Day. He leaves wife Mes. Helestykes Hughes and seven children. Survived by brothers J. M. Hughes Milford Thomas Salt Lake City Irvine Farmington and sisters Mrs. Samuel Welch Brigham City and Mrs. John A. Rencher Burley Idaho. Funeral held Dec. 29 at Farmington. Born Oct. 2, 1906 in Farmington to Jonathan and Minnie Hughes.

Milford residents will be able to buy auto license plates at the Milford Garage next Thursday. Mrs Lillian Anderson deputy in charge of license sales announced the plan and King Morris county assessor will visit Milford each Thursday to assist motorists in obtaining their plates.

Ben Hillman Rescued After West Desert Landing

Milford residents faced two alerts as reports of aircraft incidents reached town. Ben Hillman, former Milford Airport manager now at Ely Airport, was missing in desolate country north of Baker New. The Mineral Mountain alert proved false. flares were visible above Adamsville.

Beaver and Greenville residents report crash and survival

A hunter eyed wreckage near a Telluride mine after a plane piloted by Hillman crashed 40 miles north of Baker. Ground crews and planes from Ely Salt Lake and Delta searched the area as two miners reported the pilot would not be at his Ely destination. He spent a cold night in an old mine funnel and was found alive after 24 hours with planes and ski parties deployed.

Beaver County March of Dimes Names New Chairman

Mas G. Abbott principal of Milford High School is named Beaver County March of Dimes chairman and began visiting communities to organize the drive. The campaign will follow past patterns with new innovations. co directors for Minesville and Greenville drives are announced, with efforts to complete the county organization by weekend.

Beaver County Agent Glen Baird warns cold weather strains hay supplies for beef and dairy herds.
