Visitors Census Taken at Fishlake National Forest

Reports from the Forest Office show 110,360 visitors to Fishlake National Forest in 1920 with about 20,000 at Fish Lake. The census lists wildlife counts and hunting data including 7,475 deer hunters, 3,652 deer, and 775 coyotes among predatory kills. 1,968,950 trout fingerlings planted in 1980 streams and lakes.

Wandering Mary Pleasure Bound Returns In Style

Mary the lamb wandered with a passing flock on Saturday and returned Monday in a sheep wagon. Deputy Sheriff Ted Cronholm escorted the curious pet back to Mrs. W. R. Peckham, who had nurtured and cared for the showpiece lamb.

Northwest Turkey Growers pool nets over 500000 for 12000 producers

The Northwest Turkey Growers association reports 1060 carloads or about 2 million pounds of Christmas turkeys from eight states, including Utah where 26 carloads supply 500,000 pounds. Utah’s share should reach at least 125,000 dollars with prices around 29 to 30 cents per pound.

Justice Nichols Hears Two Liquor Cases In Week

Two intoxication cases were heard in local justice court last week. Carl Roberts pleaded guilty and received 30 days in city jail after appearing before Justice Herbert Nichols on Monday. William Pryor pleaded guilty the next day and faced a 50 dollar fine or 30 days in jail. Both cases stemmed from holiday arrests.

Services Held for Daniel W. Smithson

Funeral rites were held Monday for Daniel W. Smithson at his Milford residence with Mrs A J Atkins officiating under the Christian Science Church. The 1866 Alabama native died suddenly of a heart attack leaving ten children and many friends. Survived by daughters Mrs Alien McIntosh Mrs Theresa McIntosh Mrs Geraldine Mathews of Seattle and Mrs Ursula Kesler of Stockton and sons Lee Marion Bert and James Smithson the Milford resident had been a local stock raiser and civic participant for fifty years. Burial followed in Mt Olivet Cemetery Salt Lake City on Tuesday at 10 o clock.

Milford Volunteer Fire Department elects new officers

Officers for the Milford Volunteer Fire Department were elected at a Tuesday night meeting at 7 30 at the fire hall. Thorokhi White was chosen president O R Molt is vice president Max Root secretary Eugene Singleton chief and Mark Waddoups Roy Carlson named trustees. They take office January first and Singleton will appoint a captain for the year ahead at the next regular meeting

Social Hour Club Christmas Party Delights South Milford

The Social Hour Club held a successful Christmas party December 20 at the clubhouse in South Milford. Sixty five children attended along with adults as Santa distributed stockings and a festive program entertained guests followed by coffee and doughnuts.

Guests enjoyed games with Rosabell Jones and Harvey Davenport winning high score and Burnella Jones along with Leon Jones taking consolation. Couple to wed despite language barrier in Milford

Christobal Errolia of Milford and Lydia Bridges of Sevier secured a marriage license December 17 and were married by Bishop C Dennis White. The groom spoke no English and the bride could not converse in his language, so an interpreter facilitated the ceremony. The bride was 45 and the groom 48.
