LaVar Voorhees wins first prize in the Chamber of Commerce home decorating contest as Tri State Lumber Co tops the business house class. Second and third place go to Charlene Nickels and Rudolph Nielsen with Telluride Power Co and Horn Silver Hotel earning other prizes. Minersville Girl to Serve LDS Mission in Hawaiian Islands

Genevieve Robinson daughter of Mr and Mrs Wilford J Robinson of Minersville will leave for the Hawaiian mission of the LDS church on January 28 She was born in Minersville and graduated Milford High School in 194? Since graduation she has worked for the Bamberger Railway Co in Salt Lake City She will be honored at a reception in Minersville then enter the mission home in Salt Lake City on January 10 and sail for Hawaii on January 28 A active LDS church worker she was in the Minersville ward MIA and has taught in the Sunday School and Y M I A since moving to Salt Lake City

Arrest of George Madden in CaVente for Beaver County

A transient named George Madden, address unknown, was arrested near CaV ente Nevada around 10 a m Thursday and jailed in Lincoln County at Ploche. He is held for Beaver County officers and reportedly confessed to robbing the Jefferson Mercantile Co on three occasions. He will be returned to Milford for possible grand larceny charges.

Night Thief Evades Guards After Store Break-In

Night marshal Leon Williams investigated a break in and heard a thief in the hardware department. The intruder crawled on the floor toward the rear. lights failed, guards posted, and the burglar escaped via the driveway. Local officers broadcast a description after learning a man matching it had boarded a freight train toward Caliente.

C K Whittaker president of Studebaker Pacific Corp announces four new structures and acres of land added to the west coast assembly plant. Dirt has begun as a large workforce with bulldozers and steam shovels rush toward completion a month ahead. More than 50000 dollars is invested in this immediate expansion of the factory.

South Milford Christmas Party Celebrates with Santa

The South Milford club house hosted a Dec 23 gathering with Santa greeting 55 attendees. Prizes went to Georgia Smith Freddie Wright and Johnnie Alger while candy nuts cookies and popcorn balls were served and carols sung. Mrs. Joan McKnight organized the event.

Four girl quadruplets born to Frau Mathilde Haug in Hamburg will celebrate birthdays in different months. Two arrived November 30 and two more early December 1, totaling twelve pounds at birth.
