Gertrude Cook Laid To Rest In Milford Cemetery
Funeral services for Gertrude Ora Cook age 72 were held at the Milford LDS Church with Bishop Gronning in charge. She was born June 9 1879 in Blue Rapids Kansas and died in Milford Hospital. Survived by two daughters and three sons, four brothers and four sisters, 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The Cook family owns the Hay Springs ranch in South Milford where she helped build a cattle empire. She was the last pioneer woman of Milford Valley pumping district.

Christmas Returns Hero From Overseas Duty
Mac B Armstrong husband of Edith Murdock Armstrong Cedar City native arrived home Sunday after serving in the 213th Field Artillery. He left Cedar City in October 1950 for Ft Lewis Washington and on January 14 1951 the Nations Guard unit sailed for the Korean front. Sgt Armstrong served 38 months in the South Pacific in World War II and later helped train Korean soldiers with the Korean army for five months before returning to the Eighth Army. He is the son of Mr and Mrs John Armstrong of Cedar City and has a two year old son Donald who lives with Mrs McDonald and her parents. After Christmas with his family he will report to Camp Roberts California January 6 for further assignment.
