Milford High announces season tickets for five home games at LaMar Cuizen’s Corner Drug start December 26. West-side seats only. single-game tickets stay at 75 cents. Season tickets priced at 3.25 save 50 cents, with first home game January 4 against Beaver. Also notes visitors from Minersville in Cedar City.
The Southern Utah Medical Society met December 15 at the Escalante Hotel in Cedar City to discuss civil defense and the Red Cross blood donor train for the area. Officers elected for the year include Dr Reichman of St George as president Dr Sorenson of Parowan as vice president and Dr E N Davie of Milford as secretary treasurer.
Fava Rigby Jr. announced the sale of the Sportsmen's Club on Main Street to George Christensen of Fillmore, who has long operated similar ventures. Ray Jackson of Fillmore will join Christensen in the new ownership arrangement. Mrs. Loretta Tomsik traveled to Ogden this week to visit her son-in-law and daughter Dan Hutchings and plans to return to Milford later.
Lois Nason of Helper stays at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Munk, during a holiday visit.
Funeral services for Gertrude Ora Cook age 72 were held at the Milford LDS Church with Bishop Gronning in charge. She was born June 9 1879 in Blue Rapids Kansas and died in Milford Hospital. Survived by two daughters and three sons, four brothers and four sisters, 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The Cook family owns the Hay Springs ranch in South Milford where she helped build a cattle empire. She was the last pioneer woman of Milford Valley pumping district.
Mr and Mrs Bob Tomsik drove to Salt Lake City and back with a new 1952 Pontiac. En route they stopped at Fillmore for a parts and service conference of Pontiac dealers.
Mr and Mrs Al Cline of Cedar City visited Sam Cline and joined a Cedar City group last Saturday evening. The Milford Clines hosted friends to celebrate ADS birth anniversary at the Sam Cline home.
Congressman Walter K. Granger will address farmers and other residents at the Community Clubhouse in South Milford on Friday at 8 p m under the Farmers Union. He and Mrs Granger will attend and invite questions on state local or national affairs.
Nearly 300 people attended a First Christmas program at the LDS Church last Sunday evening. The Singing Mothers, directed by Gwen Smith, joined by male singers performed Christmas songs while violin and cello accompaniment provided by June Bartholomew Beth Leffingwell and Lilian Anderson. The Munks were in Salt Lake last week. Mr. Bob Munford returned to his Hurricane home after visiting with his son in law Julian Arnold and daughter. Ben Briscoe family will spend Christmas with their daughter in Herlong California. Miss Aileen Persons stays with her parents Myron and Mrs. Persons. Sgt Robert Green will spend Christmas in Milford with fiancée Aileen Persons and her parents. Mr. and Mrs Don Bliner attended a Young Farmers meeting in Salt Lake City last weekend.
A K Bohn gunner's mate third class serving aboard USS Waler in Pearl Harbor patrol has been released from the navy and returned to inactive duty with the naval reserve. He, a Lincoln County High School Panaca Nev graduate, spent three years in the Orient and is married to Jeannine Carter. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Andy Bohn of Minersville.
Mac B Armstrong husband of Edith Murdock Armstrong Cedar City native arrived home Sunday after serving in the 213th Field Artillery. He left Cedar City in October 1950 for Ft Lewis Washington and on January 14 1951 the Nations Guard unit sailed for the Korean front. Sgt Armstrong served 38 months in the South Pacific in World War II and later helped train Korean soldiers with the Korean army for five months before returning to the Eighth Army. He is the son of Mr and Mrs John Armstrong of Cedar City and has a two year old son Donald who lives with Mrs McDonald and her parents. After Christmas with his family he will report to Camp Roberts California January 6 for further assignment.
Mrs Armistrong and her daughter Marie have traveled to San Antonio Texas where Mrs Armistrong will spend the winter recuperating from a recent illness.
