Milford State Bank educates through yearlong banking apazines

The Milford State Bank will run educational advertising for the next 12 months focused on banking and money matters through the ages. The program aims to be useful for students and adults alike. Seasonal notes mention hunting weather and upcoming Tiger home game ticket sales at Corner Drug with prices 5 cents for single games and 3.50 for season passes. Christmas break begins Friday with class resuming January 5. Tigers Wind Up Preliminary Casaba Season

The Milford Tigers closed their preseason with a 59 to 48 loss to Dixie on home court. They beat Wayne 42 to 38, lost at St George, and won the Victory Cup game at Lincoln of Nevada 55 to 32. They rest until the regular league season starts in January.

January draft calls Beaver County youths for induction

Youths from Milford Marion Jameson Minersville and Duane Baldwin of Beaver are summoned to report for induction on January 12. One Beaver and one Adamsville man will report for physicals on January 14, per Beaver County Selective Service Board clerk Miss Bernice Mackerell.

Adventist Aid Distribution Exceeds One Million in Value

The Pacific Union Conference welfare department reported aid to the needy totaling 1 745 088 dollars in the last fiscal year. Cash comprised 237 210 dollars while the rest covered food clothing and labor donated by church members. Women volunteers processed 772 210 garments for local families and Navajo in Arizona with additional clothing shipped to eight overseas countries including Korea where 52 000 pounds were sent in November along with rice and other foods.

Scout Leader Course to Start Jan. 8

Dick Foerster will lead Beaver District Scouters in the fundamentals of Scout Leadership at the Beaver First-Third Ward recreation hall at 8 p m. on January 8 one-night segments continue the first Thursday each month with sessions in Milford and Minersville. He is assisted by Rudolph Nielsen and Glen Casterline. Fathers of scout age boys are urged to volunteer as troop committee members and to register.

REA loan expands phone service in Beaver County area

A $304,000 REA loan to South Central Utah Telephone Association of Richfield will acquire Escalante Telephone Co and upgrade to dial service.
