Camp notes report back to school for Company 2580 and Lieutenant Bergstrom attending Fort Douglas cooks and bakers school for a week then seven days official leave. Open house at Camp DG-85 on November 30 drew 75 Milford and Beaver visitors praising the camp work. Dr. G C Arvin, master of Camp DIE35, treated a scarlet fever case and pneumonia spike. Major Swift and Dr. Merrill visited. Arvin’s cigars were given for the Arvin baby girl’s arrival and his new theme song is My Blue Heaven.
Union Pacific railroad announced plans this week to place orders totaling about 10 million dollars for steel rail fittings and accessories. Rail orders cover 70 000 tons with additional 80 000 tons for fittings and a 2.9 million replenishment appropriation. The program includes 340 miles of rail replacement over 18 months and rebuilding 1972 box cars and 261 automobile cars with Evans loading devices, plus 277 other box cars and lumber purchases for further rebuilding.
Payne of Salt Lake with Lloyd Mathews of Seipie as assistant oversee three quarters mile of diversion ditch work. Much of the excavation done by hand and by a crew of youths. Project will funnel flood waters into a storage basin on the route of sheep fords to winter range near Cove Fort. Clyde Teryort of Payson directs Minersville work. Notable youths include Hubert Langford and Kentuckian Junior Rice handling blasting and heavy equipment. Harry Holmes of Minersville heads the dump construction crew with Superintendent Koch coordinating effort and cooperation of the CCC workers.
After a lapse of more than 40 years, Quadmetals mine near Milfori in the San Francisco district west of Milfori is set to resume operations. Charles A. Stoneham, owner of the New York Giants, leases the property to Chicago men represented by D B Kirk, with Wilbert Mining aiding, planning new equipment and to water the mine and begin at once. The eight patented claims produced $900,000 in silver and lead ore in the late 1800s and early 1900s, with a shaft to 700 feet and a 75 foot winze. John Hays Hammond inspected the site late last century and noted 40 feet wide at 800 feet depth. Last work was in 1921 and shipments once ran high at $100 a ton with ore carrying up to 50 percent lead and some silver per ton.
A resident of Huntington Park California aims to excel in nursing school exams. The student, formerly from Milford, plans to take the California Licensure exam with support from a supervisor named Ward.

Miss Ellen Ford daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles L Ford of Salt Lake City former Milford residents married Harold J Parsons son of Mrs Thee Parsons of Logan on November 29 at the home of Mr and Mrs Don B Colton 159 Riversile drive New York City. Ceremony by Mr Colton president of the eastern states mission L D S Church. The bride wore white organdie with orchid corsage attended by her mother and Mrs Ira Markham. Best man Ira J Markham. The couple to reside at 485 Argyle Road Brooklyn after a short wedding trip.
Large attendance from Beaver, Minersville, and Salt Lake City filled the TL 1.8 Chapel Sunday afternoon for James Clay who died Wednesday night. Speakers included William Morgen, Frank D. Williams, and Bishop H. Aird. Clay, born in Barchester England in 170, came to the United States as a youth with relatives and settled in East Lake City before working for the Untay Parifie railway. He leaves a widow, Elizabeth Havela, and several children and kin in Beaver county and beyond.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for 56 year old Peter Weidner who died suddenly Monday night at his farm home from a heart attack while listening to his radio. Bishop E H Bird led the services with LB Duncan offering the invocation and dedicating the grave in the local cemetery. Weidner was born October 8 1879 in Hungary and arrived in the United States in 1902. He married Anna Aver in Cincinnati in 1903 and moved to Salt Lake City in 1913 before settling in Milford in 1920 where he operated a shoe repair shop until his death. He was the father of 16 children, 12 of whom survived, along with his widow and numerous sons and daughters including Peter Jr William W itner Walter Weidner Helen Weidner Paolino Weidner Fr Weidner Mrs Elizabeth Martin and Mrs Lester Jameson of Milford and others in Cedar City Tucson Los Angeles and Sevier. He is survived by 14 living children.
Officers were elected Tuesday at the Firemen's hall though new terms start January 1. The Old View via Minstrel show is set for Monday night December 16 at the With school auditorium with tickets at Corner Drug store starting next Monday.
