Milford residents were warned to stop watering lawns between 8 p m and 7 a m or face strict water regulations. Mayor Kirk urged thorough daytime watering and turning hydrants off to avoid constraints. The note also thanks locals who aided pool construction and highlights community stories from Whidby Island and Milford about sports, military honors, and local births.
Milford hosts a Water Carnival Friday evening to cap the Red Cross 1951 swimming classes. The show begins at 4 7 p m and runs about 14% hours with diving exhibition by Elwood Jefferson and assistance from Judy Jefferson. Activities include bathing beauty display, wading and swim races for boys and girls, plus life saving demonstrations led by Mike Watkins, Coach Weal, Fritz Schaefer and Beulah Wunderlich. Claude Horton had an appendectomy on August 14. Gladys Gospill was admitted August 12 with a compound wrist fracture. Frank Grimes receives treatment for an infection. William Calvert at the hospital is improving. L. L. Larsen was released after medical treatment. Tom Mastros remains confined to the hospital.
Milford Lions Club heard a favorable road report from George Jefferson and welcomed Walter Lunt of the Associated Civic Clubs. Utah ranks low in tourist travel. a national travel folder is planned. Mike Watkins reported progress of Milford swimming program and Red Cross work. Dr. Davie urged Beaver County blood typing at the Monday clinic. Jefferson said Salt Lake meetings promise highway 21 construction this year with grading underway and a bid in six weeks. East end work near Horn Silver Mine should be bid by March 1 1952 and finish by early summer.
Milford Legionnaires schedule two meetings this week. Commander Wallace Mastros announces that on Thursday evening August 16 officers for the current year will be installed with Past District Commander J. M Hughes as installing officer. A feed will follow the ceremony.
The Beaver Lions Club will join a reseeded area tour in the Beaver Mountains hosted by the Beaver County SDA Mobilization Committee. Meet at the Beaver Post Office at 8 a.m. on Monday August 20 for a trip visiting Coyote on South Creek Merchant Valley Timid Springs Big Flat and other reseeded sites including a deer enclosure at Dry Flat.
William Eyre, longtime Minersville resident, died in a Salt Lake hospital Saturday August 11. A retired stock man and farmer born September 7, 1874, he married Rosella Murdock in 1895. Survived by five sons, two daughters, siblings, and 14 grandchildren. Funeral held Tuesday in Salt Lake City under Bishop T. Quentin Cannon.
Milford citizens Ardath Outzen Mary Outzen and Lynn Hutchings joined 1200 others in the 1951 Mount Timpanogos Hike on July 28 sponsored by BYU. Ardath reached Emerald Lake then steadily climbed the glacier to the summit amid cheering hikers. A dramatic descent followed as the group faced wet, windy conditions and a dramatic finish near the crest.
Ely, Nevada, hosts a ten day Pony Express Days celebration August 17 to 26 featuring a four day Horse Show and Race Meet. horses from Arizona, California, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada will compete at White Pine Fairgrounds with extensive improvements noted. The Intermountain Quarter Horse Association designated Ely the Futurity site for 2 year olds, with a 330 yard race for the top 10 bred horses for a substantial prize.
Mrs Fife Ogburn and children Janice and Bobbie have spent time with Mrs Ogburn's parents, Mr. and Mrs Joseph R. Murdock. This week Mr. Ogburn joined the family at the Murdock home.
Beaver County dairymen gain a proven Holstein sire after Cache Valley Breeding Association bought Sleepy Hollow Fobes Wayne Cupid at the Spring Creek Ranch sale on August 6th for 2300 dollars. The bull’s daughters boosted butterfat from 463 to 545 pounds, and services are offered to all county dairymen for artificial breeding.

Union Pacific's fifth agricultural film Cattle Country will debut in September with showings at major western markets. The Milford Lions Club hosts stockmen from Beaver Minersville and Garrison Baker areas as guests after the stockyards tour. The film, produced over two years with cattle industry and extension input, uses animation and charts to cover grazing land care diet water branding inoculation parasite control and ranch planning for beef production.
